How to Attract Fairies

If you want to communicate and work with fairies, you’ll either have go out and find them in nature or attract them into your world.  If attracting fairies is your goal, there are lots of things you can do to create a fairy friendly environment.

I Believe In Fairies

Most fairies/elves experience humans as non believers so a great way to attract them is to show them that you believe in them. If you place the faery flag (see below) on a shelf or wall, it lets fairies know you are a friend and invites them to visit.  When they see the flag, they will be very curious and come closer to investigate.  (More about the Faery Flag in another post)

Respect and Care for the Earth

Fairies are very concerned about the way humans have mistreated the earth that we both share.  One of their main purposes in communicating with us is to teach us to empower ourselves so that we can help heal the planet.  Often, healing and respecting the planet is one of their very first messages so being environmentally friendly and doing your part to help heal the earth is a must.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Just like humans, fairies are more attracted to lightness and happiness rather than sadness and depression. In fact, much that has been written about fairies has to do with them playing music, dancing, singing and basically partying all night.  When you are trying to attract them, try playing beautiful music, dance a little and feel happy!

Give them Some Space

Fairies enjoy the idea of hospitality and prefer to go places they are invited and welcomed.  One way to make them feel really welcome is to set aside a special place just for them such as a corner or a shelf, and put things you think they would like in this area. Placing a fairy house on a shelf would be an excellent way to do this and encourages them to visit and stay a while (see our post about fairy houses here).  You can place all sorts of offerings and fairy gifts on your fairy shelf such as fairy shoes, a thimble of honey, maybe a bit of good Irish ale(!), a fairy cake, a fairy drum, some shiny objects (they love shiny things!) or something copper (one of their favorite metals). No fairy could resist such an offering!  NOTE: Just make sure there is no iron any where near this area–iron saps their strength and repels them.

A Pixie House.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

One thing they have made very clear to my sister and I, is that they need to be treated with respect and they need to be valued. Any sign of disrespect or condescension, and they will be gone. If you talk to them and interact with them as if they were a treasured friend then all will go well.

The Good People Only, Please

One last thing to consider when inviting the fae to visit is to make sure you only invite the friendly fairy, not the dark, scary, difficult fairies.  It’s best to make a declaration out loud such as, “those with bad intent are not welcome here.”  Another good idea, according to the Elves of Fyn, is to place this symbol above the doors or windows of your home:

The Faery Protection Rune-- this rune should keep all the harmful fairies away.

Hello. Love your website. A interesting happened today. I printed your rune to keep bad fairies away. I was taking it upstairs and I felt something tug at it once. That was strange. Then 5 minutes later I looked at my index finger and it looked liked something had taken a small bite out of it. It bled some. I did take a pic of it. Can they do this? I know I did not scrape my finger anywhere. I would have felt it. I cant wait to put up the Faery flag.

me and my ex best friend we made our own little world like a school for fairies and in a later post it said that fairies call us clumisies and we were going to call the non fairies that in our world so could that come from a fairie that she might have talked to and got the word clumsies??

    Hi J,

Yes, putting the fairy flag in the window will help to attract them so go ahead and give it a try.

    All the best,

    Hi Cindy,

If they asked me my name, I would give it to them unless they were dark fairies.

    Hi Fred,

Well, yes there are some little ones–not particularly nice ones–that can bite and cause a bit of pain. Was it coincidental that you were taking the protection rune upstairs to use it when this happened? Probably not. I hope you were able to place that rune over a door or window – you might want to make a few more if this happens again and place them over your bedroom windows and doors so you will be protected when you are sleeping at night.

It would be a great idea to put up the Faery Flag because it will attract the good fairies and that will help to keep the dark fairies away.

    Take care!

    Hi ethan,

Dont’ be frightened, they are just trying to get your attention. The next time you think a fairy is nearby, just talk to it and say hello and then maybe ask “who are you?” and see if you hear an answer.

    Hi Yumz,

Sure, I’d try to make it look nice. It doesn’t have to be made out of anything grand – the small one we made was constructed out of cardboard/cardstock with moss and leaves added.

    Hi savs,

Fairies are found all over the world, particularly in nature. I would go here and to learn how to communicate with them but you want to make sure you have followed the suggestions in this post before you try to do that. No sense in trying to communicate with them if they aren’t around, right? :)

  15. admin July 3, 2009 at 12:09 pm #

    Hi rosie,

I think tall grass could work really well for the smaller type of fairies. Just try and see what happens.

  16. admin July 3, 2009 at 12:41 pm #

    Hi Abigail,

As far as I’m concerned, fairies really don’t have anything to do with or against religion at all…

Wow – that’s really a great experience seeing a fairy by a creek, you are very lucky!

The best way to keep dark faeries away is to tell them they aren’t welcome and post the fairy protection rune in a room where you sleep. Another good way is to attract the good faeries because that also tends to keep the bad ones away. Yes, the good ones can be very protective if they like you :) .

    All the best!

    Hi sab,

I’m glad your sister introduced us to you!!

About your questions…fairies can communicate telepathically so language isn’t a problem. We have had them speak out loud here on rare occasions and that has been in English but I’m sure if they needed to communicate in another language, they could do that too.

Mr. E, one of the Elves of Fyn that communicates with us through my sister Susan, says that he is 3001 years old (he recently had a birthday) but time is a lot slower in the faery realm so that might be a factor in how long they live. They have children just like humans do but not as frequently because, if they did and they lived that long, there would be a serious overpopulation problem! :)

    All the best,
    Natalie

Are faeries dangerous? My mom flipped out on me a couple weeks ago because she thought i was possesed by an evil being just because i was in a bad mood. my mom thinks that demons can take the form of anything but i swear since i stopped leaving food out I have seen many balls of light faerie shapes ext. can u help me?

  22. Me July 8, 2009 at 2:22 pm #

Why not attract the “bad” ones? As creatures of our wonderful universe they should be taught to become good fae. A show of love and kindness should make them turn into good faeries ^_^

  23. admin July 8, 2009 at 2:52 pm #

    Me,

Good luck converting the dark fairies to good fairies. Don’t forget, these aren’t humans, they are something far different. Anyway, let us know how it goes…

Natalie, I would really like to know what kind of houses fairies prefer to live in. See, I have made some houses in the past, but I’m not sure if they would comfort the fairies. See, they were technically bird houses, before I finished them. One as an actual door, but the rest just have holes on the sides where, normally, and bird would enter through. But I dont know about Fairies. Please let me know, if there is anything I can do to make the houses better. Thanks.

  25. Yoh July 13, 2009 at 1:27 am #

Greetings. I am Yoh. I’ve studied your website and found it to be very helpful. Ever since I can remember I’ve had a strong attraction to the supernatural, or things of that nature. I don’t have a fear of it, but a longing to see it, to even take care of it. Fairies, elves, etc.
It’s strange.. I feel so close to them, yet I’ve never interacted straight forward with them.
I have a great urge to become a cryptozoologist, however I’m still slightly iffy about it.
I’m 16 and turning 17 soon. I believe I’ll try to attract some fairies tonight, and see how it goes.
Are you a shaman or a witch of some sort?

  26. Yoh July 13, 2009 at 2:10 am #

How are you able to communicate with the Elves of Fyn?

  27. Yoh July 13, 2009 at 10:48 pm #

I went ahead and left out some watermelon pieces for them last night. Tonight I went out and there was a giant forest moth in a city area. Could be coincidence, but still. I think it’s neat to believe. :D

  31. laura July 25, 2009 at 5:45 am #

    Hi there,
im 13(14 soon) and i love fairies to bits. when i was younger i KNOW i heard & saw fairies- basically i was in the forest with my friend, building fairy houses and we heard:wierd, short singing- cough then a scream, and giggling. so we ran upstairs and then looked out her window and there was this golden light flying round. So when i got home, i made my own fairy house. I heard whistling come from one side.So then i carried on,and the same whistling came from the other side!!!
so i left food out every day,and it always got eaten. I now leave food out, but it never goes, and theres never any sign of fairies like there used to be.
    Am i doing something wrong?

  32. admin July 29, 2009 at 8:38 pm #

    Hi Rosie,

Well, it is difficult sometimes when we have to mow lawns and weed and trim gardens, etc. but I usually warn the plants and fairies ahead of time and that usually works out just fine. If you have good intentions, they will most likely understand.

    Natalie

  33. admin July 29, 2009 at 9:30 pm #

    Hi Olivia,

You asked if fairies can be dangerous….

There are bad fairies out there who don’t like humans and one of their favorite ways of getting to us is to try to influence our thinking and make us doubt and feel bad about ourselves. If you ever start to feel really bad and you don’t have a good reason to feel that way, it could be you are in contact with bad fairies.

If you have bad fairies around, there are things you can do such as posting the Fairy Protection Rune. It’s also a good idea to say out loud “those with bad intentions are not welcome here – if you have bad intentions, you must leave now.”

Let me know if that helps…

    Hi laura,

That’s great that you and your friend got to encounter some fairies–you are very lucky!

You were concerned that the food that you put out for them wasn’t being eaten….oftentimes, they only take the “essence” of the food and you would not be able to tell that they had done that since it wouldn’t have been physically eaten.

Hope that helps you feel better!

  40. admin August 4, 2009 at 11:07 am #

    Hi Amaya,

Anything strange like that with no logical explanation sounds paranormal to me. Now, was is a fairy? That is hard to say from those two unrelated incidents but fairies are often seen as glowing lights. I would pay close attention to your environment right now in case they are trying to connect with you. If they are, you should see more things like this.

    Good luck!

Greetings, I found your site to be most helpful and informative. I recently began looking into fairy sightings after a friend who lives in the Carolina mountains told us of a recent experience/sighting she had in the mountains of North Carolina, seems that there have been numerouns reports of sightings in an area called Grandpa Mt.? I am not entirely sure of all the details, but it intrigued me, I have always been a firm believer in the supernatural and have devoted time to the study of Demons/Angels and the like. Keep up the good work. Thanks…Kevin

  45. Sadie August 8, 2009 at 9:12 pm #

I am new here. I just wanted to make sure that there are faeries in Northern California. I was also wondering . . .
    1) I think this question has been asked, but I was confused with the answer: How do you know if it’s not yourself answereing your questions in your mind than if it was a true faery. If your making up the name or something.
2)Are there only faeries in green areras?

  46. Sadie August 8, 2009 at 9:49 pm #

Sorry for more questions, but how intact do fairies expect their human-made houses to be? I was also if a faery would be named Crilen ( if they would be named that, I might have spoken to one) and how do their mind messages appear? In pictures, writing, sound?
Thanks for putting up this sight, it helps.
    Sadie

  47. Sadie August 8, 2009 at 11:24 pm #

Hi, I’m new here. I found your site interesting and very helpful. I had a few questions . . .
    1)Do faeries like to swim
2)What do faeries like to eat? What is something we could leave them and they would trust us enough to eat it.
3)t I think this question was asked, but I didn’t quite understand the answer: How do you know if you are not hearing yourself in your mind, rather than a real faery speaking to you? (Like you are asking your own questions).
    4) Would a faery be named Crilen?(if they would be named that, I might of spoken to one)
5)Do fae prefer to have their human-made houses more in nature? Or would they be okay if it was a mixture.(That’s a confusing question, sorry)
    6) How would fae prove to you they are ethere if you ask them to?
Sorry for the many questions. Thank you so much!
    Sadie

  48. Sadie August 8, 2009 at 11:25 pm #

Sorry I repeated some questions, I thought I didn’t submit them.

I am new here. My sister is Sadie.
    I have my own questions . . .
    1)Do fae drink water?
    2)Do they like minerals?
