My sister Susan has written this post on communicating with fairies–
Hello, I would like to talk about something most people would probably think was impossible. I communicate with the fairy realm and I think it is quite possible for other people to learn to do this as well.
First of all, it’s important to understand that for me, I hear the fae speaking in my head, not with my ears. The communication comes like a thought in your head that you know wasn’t your thought to begin with. Like I said before, I think other people can learn to do this but it requires a little preparation beforehand, especially when you are just beginning, so here’s what I suggest:
ATTRACTING FAIRIES TO YOU
We have a post here that goes over some great ways to attract the fae into your world so go and read it and do whatever you feel would work best for you. There’s no sense in trying to talk to someone who isn’t even there, is there?
SET THE STAGE
Communication will work best if you are in a relaxed, open state of mind so go to a quiet, comfortable place and take a few relaxing deep breaths. You might want to put on some soothing music, light a candle or some incense–anything that will quiet your mind and body. The goal here is to have your mind cleared of all static so it will be easier to hear what they are saying.
USE SOME TOOLS
The power that comes from crystals can strengthen communication and increase your chances of hearing voices from the fairy realm. I recommend holding a quartz crystal if you have one because, in my experience, it helps focus the communication and makes it clearer. Moldavite is another great stone to use for this purpose and it is very powerful. Since Moldavite is a meteorite and not orginally from our world, it is great to use when trying to communicate with other realms.
Herbs can sometimes be useful in strengthening communication too. I think (and the Elves agree) that Mugwort is one of the best herbs to use for this purpose so give it a try. You can hold it in your hand or put it in a pouch and wear it around your neck–just experiment and see what works best for you.
COMMUNICATE!
Now down to the actual communicating with the fae. Remember they are not completely like humans–they are super sensitive to what you say so choose your words carefully.
Ok, once you are pretty sure they are nearby and you are relaxed and ready, start by introducing yourself. I usually say something like, “Hi I’m Susan, I know that fairies exist and I sense you here. What is your name?” Listen carefully for an answer and try not to doubt the response you receive in your head. It may take a few tries before you get a response but fairies are very curious and they will definitely draw closer and see if you are for real. Once they see that you are sincere, they will usually respond.
OTHER WAYS OF COMMUNICATING
If, after giving it a good try, you are still unable to hear them, there are other ways of communicating. I always think it is a good idea to tell them out loud that you sense them–if you do, of course. I usually follow this by saying that I am leaving something especially for them, something shiny is always a good bet. Before too long, you might find something missing because they love to play practical jokes by taking and hiding things you use a lot like keys or glasses. Sure enough, if you demand (as nicely as possible) that they put it back, you will find the lost item soon, right about where you thought it was in the first place!
Fairies can also show up in your dreams and meditation and they often work first from the dream world and back to the waking world. Ask for them to come into your dreams and if you are sincere, they just might respond.
Lastly, watch your environment for communication from the fae. Be aware and notice elvish energy such as mists, hazy movements, orbs, pops of energy and quick movement out of the corner of your eye. There’s nothing quite like seeing a ball of light coming right at you to convince you that fairies are real!

Yes, there definitely are fairies in Ireland! As a matter of fact there are probably more there (and in Scotland) than anywhere else. The elves tell us that the veil between the two worlds is rather thin there and it is easier for them to pass into our world there and that is the reason so yes, go ahead and let us know how it goes!

Nice to have you stop by….
From just what you said, it doesn’t sound like you have bad fairies at all, it just sounds like someone is trying to get your attention by saying your name. I know, this can seem scary but it doesn’t sound like they have bad intentions to me. Why don’t you try and ask them who they are next time? If they are friendly, they should answer in a friendly way and you wont be scared anymore. As far as the popping noise goes, since I didn’t hear it myself, it is really hard to say what it was. Why don’t you look around next time and see if you can find a logical reason for it – could be something simple.

I’m really wanting to make contact with the fairies, but I’m kinda scared.
I know this might sound pathetic but…
I don’t exactly want to be sitting in my room and things are falling over and there are little noises and stuff, especially when I’m sleeping, I’d find that really scary if they were buzzing about in my room. If you know what I mean?
I don’t want to be petrified of becoming friends with them.
Any tips? Do they make noises and stuff?

If you feel like someone is watching you, maybe you could try to ask them who they are and what they want. After you ask, just listen for an answer in your head.
About the elves visiting you…I wish they could visit you in person but at the moment, that isn’t quite possible. Sometimes they can come to you in your dreams so you might want to ask for them to do that just before you go to sleep.

Yes, crystals can amplify, strengthen and focus energy and they help to create a stronger connection with a the fairy realm. The amethyst cluster that you linked to is a type of crystal that is generally used to assist people with meditation, and to enhance connection to ones spirituality. It would be a good crystal to have when you want to communicate with fairies. Clusters can be less focused than a single point but they are great energy generators.

I have a garden that I weed but I usually tell them ahead of time what I’m going to do and why I think I need to do it. I have never had any problems with them if I do it that way. You asked about seeing fairies in a forest and I would say that would be an ideal place to find fairies and nature spirits.

hey again. im really freaked out bcause i’ve been seeing shadows of things. i don’t know what they are but its creeping me out.
also, i might need some kind of protection. i know it sounds weird. i keep having dreams about me and my 2 of my guy friends getting hurt. its creeping me out. theres always a guy with yellow eyes in them. i dont know who it is or what it means. yesterday i saw two yellow streaks fly acroos the sky and then a black lighting bolt. i dont think i was the only one that saw it bcause evryone leaned out tere car windows right after that. i think it might have something to do with the dreams.

last night i passed out all of a sudden. i had a dream:
it went really fast are some details:
it was me and the 2 guy friends. ther was a yellow eyed guy doung something. i was flung across the floor. then it went blck. about a minute later i saw somebody. i dont know who it was but the were saying my name. they said my friends were hurt and we had to help them….
then i woke up. my friend that was sleeping over said i was out for about 2 hours.
i dont know wat is going on and i dont wnat anyone to get hurt.

Hi Vivi, I think that strange bug could have been a faery in disguise! Have you ever seen a bug like that before?
He/she must have felt that the crystal was a gift for them — and the bug (faery in disguise) may have intentionally flew to your soup so you would notice the dead caterpilar in it .
Faeries do love crystals– in fact whenever I put them out in my faeries garden, and announce to them Fae that this is for them, the crystals are gone out of the dish by the next day or week.
Once I put a handful in that I got at a Nature store. That week all of them were gone. An amythest was the only one that they missed, and it ended up far under the pine tree (like as though someone very small was carrying it off, but it dropped). I had to crawl on my stomach to reach it.
No animal would have taken these stones and there are no kids that go in our yard. When I put the amythest back in the dish, the next morning that too was gone.
I put seashells in the dish too, and they eventually took those. I left a mother-of-pearl button in there and it stayed for months — but I think, now that is gone too.

When they take my stuff, I usually say “put it back, please” and I usually find the missing item within a few minutes. Of course, most of the time, the missing item shows up in a different place where I never would have left it, but at least it has been returned.

What you are going through sounds very disturbing….I don’t think it is from the faery realm but I can’t rule them out completely.
Before I go any further, I have to say this–passing out for 2 hours is very scary and I really wish you would see a doctor right away. Please consider it .
Alright, now…can I ask you if you have been using a ouija board, or sort of fooling around with spells or anything like that? Have you been in a graveyard/cemetery recently??? Are your friends into things like this at all? Can you think of anything strange the happened before all this started? Do you live in an old house? I know these questions sound weird but there is something behind what you are experiencing and finding the source is very important. Once I have more information, I can point you in the right direction.

Since fairies can be powerful, wouldn’t it be a bad idea to catch one at all not to mention one that isn’t very nice to begin with??? I absolutely think that trying to “catch” a fairy is something we should never do–the kind ones would find this to be very unfriendly and the dark ones would find it an excuse to retaliate.

thanks. i think im alright about the passing out thing. i was tired anyway and just got home from running cross counrty….so that could be the reason. just guessing. besides, my friend could have been exaggeriating….she does it a lot. my dad is a doctor and he says thats probably the reason.
about the house….yes my house is old. i dont know the excact number, but i know its old. no i havent been to amy graveyards at all. i went to a funeral for my friend’s great grandma funeral about two years ago though.
about wierd stuff, i never really noticed anything, exept for the fact that sometimes i did things b4 they happen when i was little, but i dont think that has anything to do with the fairies. sometimes it happens now, but not very often. other than that nothing wierd every really has happened b4 this.

Hello, I was wondering if fairies are found in India and if so then why isnt there more talk about them ? Do fairies, like humans belong to different races?
I read in a book by Doreen Virtue that the maximum number of sightings are reported in the UK, Canada and the USA, countries which have acute environment consciousness, is that true? Do fairies inhabit that part of the world more? I live in bustling city that has very little natural scenic beauty. Would it be difficult to make contact with fairies here? Do they inhabit my city?

I’m really relieved that you are ok – I’m glad your dad’s a doctor so I won’t worry anymore…
I don’t really think you are experiencing a fairy interaction unless it is the unseelie type. It seems like you have attracted the attention of something dark/negative and I would try to counteract that by using white light, etc for protection and also invite in positive vibrations and beings. If something makes you uncomfortable, I wouldn’t just roll with it, I would tell it to leave immediately. So basically, surround yourself with protective energies, bring in the positive and remove the negative when it presents itself. If you need more help than that (which you won’t, hopefully) just let us know and we will point you in the right direction.

I tried to put the fairy flag thing on the clear window! but i’m kind of scared! not just scared…..really scared! because it was my first time doing this! how do you know that a fairy is near? i started attracting them for like one evening but then stopped because me and my brother started getting second thoughts,worried that a fairy might get mad or that we would attract a bad fairy, then a couple days later i was watching tv and all of a sudden i got this excited feeling in my stomach out of nowhere,and i thought i was looking forward to something,but then i thought the last hour over and there was nothing to be excited about,i felt really calm about it though,could that be the presence of a fairy? i wanted to talk to them (if they were there) but my dad was in the room right across the hall with the door open (he is a non-believer,i am absolutely sure because he said that there was no such thing as fairies when my bro got all freaked out i had to cover his freaking out by saying that we were playing a fairy game and he got freaked out because i was talking about if a fairy got mad at us) ok back on subject i could not speak or try to communicate with anything paranormal. do you think it was a fairy present?
a few questions:
1)how would i get around my parents if i wanted to communicate with a fairy as they are non-believers?
2)this one’s completely out of the blue,how do you meditate? i mean i get in the position and close my eyes and feel relaxed but what’s the real deal? and again,i hope for fairy communication,but how do i get around my parents!?!
i’m sorry but my parents are a big problem i mean i love them to death but as they are non-believers i can’t just explain to them that fairies are real because i have been on this website for weeks and i have had communication with fairies (if i am able to)they would think i am mental and probably bring me to some psychiatrist!and i don’t think a fairy would be to happy if one day i decided to catch it and show it to my parents,would a fairy agree to show itself to a non-believer if i asked it to when i may recieve communication? sorry for the extremely long post and comstantly repeating the same thing,

umm,rico,as soon as i read your comment i could tell why the fairies would not like to communicate,i’m not natalie and i truthfully am scared to try to communicate with a fairy but i am only trying to say that it does take patience to see one,but maybe you should try attracting them first if you haven’t,and it’s very unlikely that a fairy would want to show itself to you if you don’t try communicating with it first. again,i’m not natalie but i think your best bet would be to ask them out loud for them to visit you in your dreams and stay persistent,then see where you go from there.remember i haven’t tried to communicate with a fairy yet because i am a little scared but that is my opinion on what you should do. good luck,Bri3

Yes, you got it exactly right. Maybe it would help you if you understood that fairies aren’t here to please you, it’s not their job. Working with them requires patience and interacting on their terms, not yours.
Bri3 gave some excellent advice to you – if they aren’t responding, make sure they are actually there to begin with.
Below, I’m copying something I wrote in the “Most Frequently Asked Fairy Questions” post, and maybe you will find it helpful:
I know it’s disappointing and frustrating when you don’t get results right away but when this happens, it could be because there were no fairies around to interact with. It can take a while for them to notice you–especially in the winter time. And, even when they notice you, it isn’t an absolute guarantee that they will want to communicate with you instantly. Sometimes they want to check you out and see if you are the type of human they would like to connect with. Fairies tend to be shy and mistrusting of humans and they generally have little time for humans who, in their view, have thoughtlessly mistreated the earth we both share. This is often a big obstacle that has to be overcome and you will probably need to prove yourself and earn their trust before they will decide to reach out to you.
So, how can you prove yourself? Well, in order for the fairies to have a good opinion of you, you will need to let them see that you care for our earth and the environment. Recycling, tending a garden, looking after wildlife (I was a wildlife rehabilitator, for example), conserving energy, composting, reusing instead of discarding, and using natural products are all good ways to show the fae that you are sincere. But, proving to them that you are sincere and that this isn’t just another passing fancy for you, can take some time. How long it will take depends on you, and how sincere they perceive you to be.
If you are patient and show them you are a caring, respectful, and dedicated person, they may reward and encourage you with a small glimmer of their presence. Be watchful because these offerings of their presence could go unnoticed to those who aren’t paying close attention. That little glimmer you thought you saw, that missing item, or that movement out of the corner of your eye could be one of those. If they see that you notice, you may get more of their attention and presence. Be sure to thank and encourage them anytime you think they have reached out to you.
