A little about Mr E’s World…

Here is a little conversation Mr E and I had about what his world is like.  I think Athidal wanted to know how things from our world are reflected in their world so hopefully this will answer her questions too:

NL: Can you tell us a little bit about your everyday life?

Mr E: I went to the market the other day…that was nice…

NL:  Where is the market located?

Mr E: It's quite odd because the market in my world and the market in your world are in two different places, it's not across the street like you've got.  It's further on down the street.  (Note:  Mr E has relocated to a place in his world that corresponds to where we currently live, so that he can communicate with us better/easier.)

NL:  What does the building look like that it is in?

Mr E: It's kind of like–it's not even a building, it's more like a lean-to (a free standing structure of three walls and a sloping roof). It's got a open front side to it.

NL:  It's a long building?

Mr E: Yes, it's like where you get some type of shelter, you know. It can still be pretty damn cold but they have fires going there too now.

NL:  As far as food and produce goes, What kind of things are available there now?

Mr E: There's not much produce there, you get some meats that are hanging up there. There's potatoes, onions and some other little things that are hanging up.

NL: Foods that winter well…

Mr E: Yes, and they have other handmade crafts and blankets, things people have skinned and furs. Some metals, some shoes for the horses can be found there too, there's lots of different little things there. (Laughs) Why, do you want me to bring you something back?

NL: (Laughs) Could you? Yes, could you get me something, next time you go?

Mr E: Don't you wish it could be like that?

NL: Yes, definitely! Do they have reading material, other amusements there too?

Mr E: Oh yes, occasionally.  There's other little closed-in shops where you can get books and stuff too.  You know,  little magic shops too.

NL: Ok, so when you take a walk down the street to go to this market

Mr E: I don't walk, I'll be takin' a horse.

NL: Ok, on the horse…what do you see on your way. What does it look like out there?

Mr E: It's quite a bit different than you see here.  It's not a paved road like you've got, it's made out of dirt.  And we've got more trees around the edges than you have here.  It's much more wild than you'd think it'd be.

NL: That sounds nice. So, do you pass houses on your way to the market area?

Mr E: There's a quite a few houses here but it's different–it's not like the exact same cut out houses you have here, it's a different type of house. (note: we live in an old neighborhood dating back to the 1890's with lots of similar looking wooden houses).

NL: So, you said before that your world was created out of ours and because of that you can sort of see our structures but they aren't exactly real in your world, right?

Mr E: Yes, for us it's like a hologram of a house, it's not physical in our world.

NL: So, if the holograms are there, that means that you could be riding through a hologram on your way to the market.  Can you just make that go away in your mind so that you don't have to see it all the time?  That would be disturbing to me.

Mr E: What, the holograms?

NL: Yes

Mr E: No, those will be there.  I'll know that I am riding through a person's house…

NL: So you can't make it go away?

Mr E: No.  The fae are always aware of your world.  We're not so very far away as you think.

NL: So how do you manuever in a place where there are cars driving by or through you, etc.?

Mr E: Oh, we don't see the cars and we don't see the houses, we just see the holograms of the houses. We don't see holograms of the cars because they are made of metal–we don't see them.

NL: What about the people from my world?

Mr E: Sometimes we see the people and sometimes we won't, it all depends.  It's kind of like how you see us in your world.

NL: So, you may see us as wispy energy or orbs, that kind of thing?

Mr E: Yes, like that.

NL: Isn't that kind of disconcerting to be in a place where there are phantom buildings all over the place? You know, ghosts of a house here and there? It's kind of creepy.

Mr E: It's not creepy, it's just an outline of a house that humans have built,  you can see right through the damn thing. It is a different world, ya know!(Laughs)

Wow, that's quite an illuminating conversation. Thanks to Natalie, Susan and Mr. E for sharing it! As Mr. Spock would say, 'Fascinating'. Hmm…the our-side-as-holograms idea wasn't a possibility that had occurred to me. It sounds like the things that are (or were once) alive in our world make echoes in theirs – but only if they aren't too refined, like plastic. (Sorry, but there's so much plastic in cars these days that if they still can't see cars…) That brings up a whole different buffet of food for thought. Now I am trying to remember any other mentions on this forum of their world being created out of ours. That's a bit disturbing – I've always refused to believe that faerie would stop existing if people didn't believe in it ( because, you know, that sounds a lot like the  idea of the sun orbiting the earth). But this sounds like something different and really does imply more possible responsibility on our part, even setting aside things like climate change and the threat of nuclear warfare. I hope we don't have that kind of power, but…well, that's probably an advanced topic, but if Mr. E ever feels like commenting on that then I, for one, would be all ears.

I agree that it sounds a little creepy to ride through a ghostly house! But I guess if you were used to it then it wouldn't seem strange. But on the bright side, from Mr. E's tone it sounds as if our building things all over the place really doesn't have any especially bad effects in faerie, so that is good! It is also incredibly interesting to hear him describe all the little things in his environment – you're right, Natalie, it really does sound very medieval , or even  frontier-ish.

Thanks for all the tidbits!

Hah! I like him for it. It shows he's not the stereotype of a stuffy, stick-in-the-mud arrogant elf! :D I'll bet he could tell a rare tale or two if he had a mind.

Yeah, I think it is his favorite word of the moment–he's had other favorites that I have had to edit out from time to time, but nothing too terrible. Smile

Very interesting– thanks for sharing, Mr. ESmile

I was wondering if they could see our trees here in their realm too-    Trees seem to be portals to alot of Beings in the faery realm-  from what I've been hearing!

hugs

So, They can see us in EVERY kind of situations?

Oh my! *sigh* I can't have some privacy anywhere! *facepalm*

And Their world's description sounds interesting. It'd be nice to attend 'em…

Wow, I am glad for the visuals! =D

I am terrible at trying to imagine places and such. >3<

For some reason, I get a “Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” feel from how Mr. E described his “realm”. =D

Maybe because our world echos at his? ^^

Cool nonetheless. =D

There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story.
