Hi, Mr. E. My name's Crystal, and there's a big question on my mind. Do fairies have a general hatred of humans?

No. Well some do but usually it is because a good reason.Like goblins, which is like Unseelie brownies ( i believe).

Some reasons they can get mad are ;

Cutting trees and killing animals

Giving them clothes ( they take it as your saying ” those clothes are ugly..wear this”)

Trying to catch them / Non believing ( some do)

And just about the same reason we would hate others.

Or some just dislike us for just being so loud and destructive.

I read it right here on RF. In one of the main posts, the admin said that a part of fairykind wanted to destroy humans to save the earth.

Hi Crystal,

Well, Mr E's world is divided basically into three main groups when it come to the larger fae–the seelie, the unseelie, and the neutrals.  The Seelie group, which Mr E belongs to, wish to work with humans and raise awareness to get them to stop destroying the earth. The Unseelie feel the best solution is to  bring about the destruction of humankind, thus eliminating what they think is the main cause of the problem to begin with.  The neutrals, as the name suggests, are not committed to either cause but can and often do go either way.

To answer your question, the Unseelie are a significantly large group of fae and as you can see from what I wrote above, they have no love for humans, just the opposite.  On the Seelie side, eight groups or countries of elves and other fae have come together in opposition to the Unseelie, calling themselves the Group of Eight. Both sides feel so strongly about how humanity should be dealt with that they are in serious conflict–war–over this. At the present time, Mr E says that the war is going in their favor and he expects that to continue.

Recently, Mr E gave me the Code of the Group of Eight and I thought it might be interesting to add it here:

The Code of the Group of Eight

1) Do no harm to humans whatsoever, no matter who they are or what they are doing.

2)  When engaging in contact with humans, the main goal is always to convey the message of urgency regarding the healing and preservation of the earth and to let them know that humans aren't the only ones to be impacted.

3)  Develop alliances with humans in order to insure that they will protect the earth and to teach them to protect themselves against the unseelie.

4) Any major decision to attack–even the unseelie–has to be a unanimous decision by the Group of Eight.  All decision are made together, never separately.

5)  Guard the Royals at all times and ease them into the rightful consciousness if they are working from within, in a human body.

Hope this answers your question….

Natalie

Btw Crystal, what I wrote above generally only applies to the larger type of fae, not the pixies, brownies, gnomes etc. because they don't have the same overall perspective and tend to be more insular and are not generally part of the conflict.

But, I thought the Unseelie were evil creatures. They care about the earth?

Well, even if they have no redeeming qualities (and I'm not sure that is true), they care about their own survival and they don't want the earth to be destroyed because they would be destroyed along with it, right?

Just a thought, as with demons I think unseelie have to do with a balancing of the life cycle. They're involved with the destructive/decay part of the cycle. unless we have decay and breakdown into elemental parts there can be no life. plants derive their nutrition from composted rotted organic matter.  Because the our world is a reflection of the bigger Otherworld there would have to be a destructive decay componant to it.

Well, maybe they are…in the same way that eco-terrorists are. Let's not forget that fae are people, not stereotypes, and actions caused by opinions are not the same as primal functions like breathing and eating. There's always some room for mileage to vary.

My own understanding is that the term 'Unseelie' is more like a name for a political party than for a kind of creature.
