Attracting faeries with song

Hello!!

This weekend I'm planning a little getaway to a place with plenty of nature and woods, where there are very few people and little intrusion into nature by human hands. I'm expecting to be able to make my first communication with fae there, and I have a plan.

I have a silver charm of a tree which is hanging on a green cord. As I understand, faeries love things that shine and offerings showing your dedication to nature, so I think this might be a suitable gift. I was going to use this to lure them, along with singing. I know many old folk tunes and celtic ballads which might please them. And before you ask, no, my voice won't scare them – I've sang my whole life and have trained my voice for 6 years, so I will be able to offer them a pleasant song. (hehe)

Has anyone ever tried to sing to attract fae this way? Does it work? I want them to be drawn to me, and singing seems like a very natural offering that they might like.

I'm open to thoughts or ideas on this! Thank you. :]

Oh boy do they ever like singing!  I came to this sight after a bizzare happening of singing.  I'm like you, I am well trained vocally and was actually a performer at a Pagan Festival.  We were doing a labyrinth ritual designed to attract the land spirits and fey.  They were so excited about the singing I kind of…well got possessed…I guess…I found this site while trying to make sense of what happened to me.

So um…yes…singing is very, very good…you just might want to take some percautions just in case they really REALLY like you.  They would never hurt you, but you could "wake up" suddenly lost in the middle of the forest the next day after your performance.

Hi Sirea and Elffriend,

Wow Elffriend, scary experience!

Welcome to RF Sirea! I hope that hasn't happened to you since that time.

It's so nice to meet fellow singers. My husband are both professional singers and met singing in the opera.

I agree, I have heard that fae love music and I think you have chosen the perfect musical genre!

Please let us know how it works out!

Have a wonderful time!

I sing to the fae often and you can just feel them listening. I usually choose fairy themed songs like this

Or something more celtic like Greensleeves, But yes singing will Deffinatly attract them! Good luck!

Thanks everyone!

It's good to know that I can do something the faeries will like, although I hope they don't take TOO kindly to me like in Elffriend's case! Haha, that sounds intense. ^_^;;

I'll try this out and see what happens. I'll let you all know!

Oh it wasn't all that bad.  What happened is that a group of us were asked to sing, but they didn't want us to use words, they wanted us to use our voices like instruments.  It was very cool, but as we went on, the sounds started to sound like syllables and then seemed to be words, and then I appartently burst into a full song in a language similar to Finish or Tolkien's elvish (which oddly was based in Finish) then I went on a gave a fairly impassioned speech…

I really don't remember much, though I felt oddly euphoric after the fact, but the impressions I got was that I was speaking about the ritual and how happy the spirits were that it was being performed, and how important it was to honor the land.

I remembered some phrases and found a website of "remembered words" in various elvish languages.  The words I was speaking seems to be of the Shiri Elves.

I just warn you to be careful, because I was in a large group of people.  When I started staggering off the path towards the forest, there was someone there to coax the fae out of me…if you believe in that sort of thing.  If you're all alone, they might want to keep you around a little while…and the fae have no sense of our time.  Maybe you could tie a string to a tree, and then to your wrist, so if the fairies try to get you to wander off, the string will remind you of the physical world.  Something gentle like that might clue them in…the fae that is…OHHH…she just wants to sing a little for us…we can't just take her…okay!

Telling them too probably would work,  "I'm going to sing you this song and then I going back to my tent to leave you to ponder and enjoy it."  Be very specific so that they can't misinterept your intentions.

In my case, the experience was pretty freaky to me after the fact, and I was actually a bit mortified after the euphoria wore off, but I never felt in any danger.  I think they were just so excited they just wanted more.  Centuries ago, singing to the fae and leaving presents was so much more common, but they just don't hear people anymore.

Thank you all for your advice! I just came home from the cabin and I'm happy to say that I did have some luck – just not the way I thought I would! ;]

Firstly, I went with my boyfriend and one of our friends. The cabin is my boyfriend's family's, and they own quite a bit of land along with it. My boyfriend told us he had found out about some state land that we could explore as well so we decided that would be a good idea. Unfortunately this meant I wouldn't get any alone time with the fae as I had planned, but I took the tree charm along anyway just in case. Before we headed off, I decided to tie it around my wrist and made sure it was tied tight so I didn't lose it.

As we came into the forest, we realized we didn't think beforehand about the problem of bugs. The mosquitoes and gnats were maddening. It was also quite hot and the rain that was in the forecast for the day showed no signs of showing up. So our exploration journey seemed to have taken a rather sour turn, but I still had hope for attracting fae.

As we walked, I began to sing. I was really out of breath from hiking uphill on uneven terrain but I did my best. After just a bit of singing, I began to feel something on my wrist and bracelet, almost like hairs or feathers batting at it. At first it was annoying until I realized it was the fae playing with my charm. I said out loud "That's okay, you can play with it. I don't mind." and kept walking. Once I got too short of breath to sing, I just talked to them under my breath, saying I could sense them, that I meant them no harm and asking for a little peace so I could enjoy my walk and the scenery.

After this, there were periods of time when I would walk through "bubbles" where the temperature would cool down, the bugs would stop bothering me and I felt peace. My friends were still complaining miserably, so I believe I may have had a little entourage looking out for me. ;]

When walking through a thick brush, I suddenly realized my bracelet was gone. At first I groaned and yelled "Ugh! Noooo!" until it occured to me that before when the fae were playing with it, they were trying to untie it and get ahold of it. It appeared they had succeeded, so as a thank-you for the protection they had given me, I said "It's alright, you can have it." and continued walking on.

This was my first experience with fae and I'm happy to know they accepted me and looked out for me. Sorry it was a bit long-winded, I wanted to include as much detail as possible. :]

That's so amazing! I'm so happy for you! I wish I had thought of that when I went camping! Have they followed you home?

I'm not sure, that thought didn't occur to me! I'm exhausted after all the walking, so I'm probably not very in tune with them at the moment… either that or they may be leaving me be to have some rest right now. I'm not dismissing the idea though, since I could just as easily wake up to fae wings tickling my nose tonight. ;]

Also I remembered that around my neck I was wearing a necklace of a large silver faerie holding on to a multicolored stone. Maybe this attracted them too, as a sign that I am aware of their existence and am interested in them!
