a few months ago, they chopped down a tree in my back yard :'(   (it was dying)

they left a kind of high stump cuz it has the hammok hook on it.

i want to make something out of the tree being chopped down, but idk what to do!

anyone have any ideas? i want to make it pretty and maybe i could do something with it that would attract the fairies. (yes, i realize there is probably no way cuz its a chopped down tree) but if anyone has any ideas i would love to hear them!

That's so sad! I know the tree probably needed to come down if it was dying, but still…

Maybe you could hang up a bird house or a bird feeder on the side of the tree? You could maybe also plant some flowers at the base of the tree. I'm sure the faeries also felt bad that the tree was dying, and would appreciate your efforts to make something good out of a bad situation. They always like it when we try to do something that helps wildlife and nature.

Also, here's a cheerful thought – sometimes a tree that has been chopped down will put up saplings from its roots. You could watch to see if your tree does that, and if so then you could see about getting at least one of those saplings to a safe home. :)

oh yeah, a bird house is a great idea! i don't know about the flowers, cuz flowers i plant tend to die >.<  but I'll make sure to check for saplings :)

thanks!

Hi Dawnflower,  I like Athidals ideas- and maybe you should still plant flowers there–   and tell the faery the flowers are for them.   Maybe you will be surprised at how beautiful the flowers end up thriving if you do that :-)

Just make sure to keep the soil moist where you plant the flowers.

If the stump is flat — you can get a nice clay dish and fill with water as a sort of Bird Bath placed on top of the trunk–    along with the flowers planted around the tree stump.

I hate when trees are cut down.   Our neighbor cut a whole bunch in thier forest area on thier property- and they were burning the logs for 2 days now unattended.  I called the fire dept.      I dont' know what in the world they are doing as that woodland was so pretty to walk through– now it's gutted out :-(

I'll  never understand my fellow humans– never

God bless!

hugs

Lisa

I have an idea, but this will probobly be REALLY HARD AND TIRING AND TAKE A LOOOONG TIME!

You could cut a circle in the middle of the stump, thats deep, put earth in it and plant a flower

its simple (yeah right) and pretty

Cutting the circle will be a problem though…maybe use a drill…or draw the circle then use a weapon to make the circle…like a saw, but thats too hard, ok forget the circle do a sqaure, thats easier, use an axe for the square…oh wait…how will the cube come out of the stump?….ok 1 second, I dont know….that was a good idea….you could make a table! YEAH!

the stump is the table, and you could have big overgrown mushrooms or fungus for the chairs!

OMG AN EVEN BETTER IDEA! it could be a fairy/bird bath, carve the top so it makes a sort of downwards ditch, then fill it with water, and plant flowers around it!

Im on FIRE! WOOO!

Nature has great ideas

Those ideas are good!   I like the birdbath one too :-)   She could chip away part of the middle out with a hammer and chisel– or even a large screwdriver   and then put a bowl in the indented part in the middle-  fill with water as a bird bath and then plant around the tree stump.

It's sad when a person cuts down a perfectly healthy tree–    One day they will learn (probably after thier death for many people) how much suffering we humans have inflicted on plants and trees because we couldnt be flexible enough to co-exist with them around us,  or we put the trees in catagories and labled some as "junk trees"  not fit near human homes, when all they needed was just some love and pruning and appreciation for what these trees have to offer the Earth.

Sumac trees are an example in our area.    Sumac is not a fancy hardwood tree, so it is considered a noxious weed tree-  and always cut down.    However, Sumac is a wonderful beautiful tree that resembles a miniature palm tree,  is drought and disease resistant, and it's beautiful wine red velvety fruit  is a vital  food for birds during the harsh Winter months when all of the berries are gone and snow is covering the ground making it hard for birds to forage for food.

Same with milkweed .   We have neighbors down the road that removed all of the milkweed from the side of their yard while they allowed the other weeds to grow there.     Milkweed is the sole plant that monarch butterfly caterpillars rely on to feed off of.  There is an enzyme in the milkweed plant that enters the caterpillars body and makes them taste horrible to birds.  It also provides the perfect balance of nutrition for the growing Monarch caterpillar and was practically designed just for Monarchs in mind.     People don't understand this and will tear it from thier properties or tractor right over them — considering them nothing but "weeds"

All things have a purpose.  Nothing that was created was ever created in vane  but much of mankind has yet to wake up to this truth.

On a road nearby a certain property had some beautiful trees growing near their home, but they chopped the trees down and are selling the wood for firewood.   They made the area into a muddy Quad Track for thier kids-  instead of the beautiful piece of land it was with the nice trees growing on it.   They like the lot better all ripped up with mudpuddles and piles of rocks thrown in the middle,   tree stumps and litter and beer cans strewn all over  while they race thier quads around thier newly made "track".      They have a makeshift sign erected from the pile of rocks in the middle of the lot, "Firewood for sale"

Across the street they have some of the tree stumps thrown in a big pile and mixed with mud and debris.    I guess that must be part of what they are selling for firewood.    I snuck my car over there today and spirited away one large tree trunk to use as a sitting stool for the butterfly garden I started on the side of our yard.

I feel so sad for this tree, but one part of this tree will not turn into mere firewood–   but will hold a special place of honor in the butterfly garden!
