I decided to make this post, since there haven't been many interesting posts lately. So, here is how to make a fae and wildlife garden.

Here are a few of my favorite plants for attracting wildlife and fae :

Honeysuckle : Beautiful flowers that fae love, and great nectar source for hummingbirds, butterflies and moths.A few caterpillars of nice moths and butterflies feed on it, such as the (Eurasian) White admiral, giant leopard moths and garden tiger moths. Here is a complete list of caterpillars that feed on it : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L…..neysuckles

Here are is a link , that lists its properties (remedies and how to use them) : http://www.altnature.com/galle…..suckle.htm

Elderberry : "These berries can be burned in a fire to invite the fae to gather.  Fairies absolutely love Elderberry wine and Elderberry will surely draw fairy visitors to you!" (From a older post)

Birds love the berries, and some flocks can strip the plant in less then one hour.

The lovely Emperor moth's larvae feeds on this, as well as the caterpillar of the Swallow-tailed moth (which also feeds on honeysuckle).

Here is a link to the healing properties of elderberry : http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-elderberry.html

Clover : "This plant is very sacred to the fae and any type of clover will attract them."

Clover can also be found in many places, and is the host plant of many caterpillars.A few caterpillars that feed on clover are Six-spotted burnet moths, Latticed heath moth..

A few butterflies may also feed on the nectar of clover flowers.

You can see other plants that attract fae here : http://www.realfairies.net/fairy-gardens.html

I recommend planting flowering plants too, since many butterflies and moths may feed on it, and perhaps even hummingbirds.

Here are a few other tips to attract fae and wildlife :

-Get a bird feeder..It will attract tons of birds, as well as squirrels. Fae can enjoy themselves while they watch the birds.

-A birdbath will attract as much birds as a good birdfeeder too..Birds will bathe in around-freezing temperatures, so leave it out for the winter. The solar-sipper is a nice water-bowl for birds, that stays unfrozen during the warm winter days.

- A hummingbird feeder is pretty good too.Orioles will sometimes feed from it as well, although they need larger perches and prefer orange, unlike hummingbirds who prefer red. A couple of species of bats feed from hummingbird feeders, oddly.

- Halves of oranges, perhaps even smeared with a bit of grape jelly, works wonders for Orioles. Very sweet too, so I wouldn't see why fae wouldn't enjoy it.

- Leaving out honey for a few hard-working bees could do.Sugar water is also good for bees, hummingbirds, butterflies..etc Fae will appreciate this as much as they will!
