Hey everyone,

So two days ago me and a few others left out strawberries, jam, and a marshmallow for the fae. We put it under a giant evergreen tree in our yard, which has a nice little base underneath which would be perfect for some sort of fae gathering.

Anyways, we said a few words, inviting them to have as much of they like of the treats and to leave some sort of sign so we know they are there. We also said they are very welcome, and if they ever need any other treats to say so.

Anyways a day passed, nothing much happened, the food was in the same place.

And then the next day (today) we went out to check, and the two strawberries were scattered about under the tree, both with bites out of them, and the marshmallow and jam were completely gone! At first I thought it may have been one of my dogs, but then the food had been put pretty deep under the tree at the back of the house, so I dont think my dogs could get to it.

Also – this is the weirdest part – there were brown egg shells scattered about! They hadnt been there before…do you think that could be some sort of sign from the fae, showing us they are there?

What should I do?

Oh, also, this all took place at my cabin, and we are leaving tomorrow morning…should I do this whole 'we welcome you' thing again when I get home?

Hi Jollly Rancher.. that is awesome!    I know that the faery don't always physicallly take the food-  they often just take the essence and energy of the food..    But it seems that certain faeries took you up on the offer- and intentionally left evidence they were there– since you asked them too.

I would do this in your yard at home as well- The fae are not only in the forests.       Remember , now , that they are not always going to physically take the food-  but will enjoy it just the same :-)

The brown egg shells left behind makes me think they heard you ;-)

I am actually JollyRancher's sister and I took part in this. Do you think we should try putting some sweets out for them again? We would love to make a fairy garden at the side of out cabin because it is a good place with lot's of room. The problem is that we only go to our cabin every two or three weeks and we wouldnt be able to tend the garden often.

Our regualar home doesnt have much garden place and doesnt seem to be the best place for a fairy garden. What do you suggest?

That would be a good idea to leave out some sweets for them again!

And if you want to-   make a faery garden anyway — but pick plants that love dry conditions– so that they dont need to be continuallly watered all the time.       You may want to get some at the store beforehand.

Some ideas are "Hens and Chicks" and Sedum    both live well in ordinary soil but also can handle dry weather.

At home, you can get a large pot and fill it with potting soil-    and just add plants or add Morning Glory Seeds.     Keep watered and watch the morning Glory seeds grow–   you can add a faery cottage right in the middle of the soil and Plant the seeds AROUND the cottage.  Keep the soil evenly moist at all times and place near a Sunny window.   Watch the morning glory flower vines grow and eventually surround the cottage.   I think the faery would love that!

Add some pretty stones and crytals here and there around the plants too.

While typing this,  these ideas just came to me about the stones and the morning glory seeds planted in a large pot– with faery cottage in the middle for the vines to attach to.

I think the Faery were just listening to us and "planted' that idea in my head for you!
