Ok so I went to a thing called trde days here in Texas. I walked in and the first thing I see….. a pink fae statue of a pixie! Went to investigate…… found 2 more in green and brown! Bought them 4 bucks each and I walk down the road with my friend what else do I see…… a yellow fae statue exactly like the first 3. Came home, took them out of wrapping and what do I realize? THEY'RE IRON!!!!! I'm not entirely sure they are but I think that comes from denial. I have 4 pixie statues in different colors ment to be put with my other statue but I can't now! I spent $16 on those and I can't use them! OH WHAT DO I DO!?!?!?!? Could they possibly be steel instead? They are heavy and they're painted so I can't really see the metal. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I feel like an idiot!

I probably messed everything up with the fae!

First take a magnet and see if magnet is attracted to it. if so then yes it could be iron. Also Iron is usely abit rougher than other metels

Ok first, calm down, there is no point in getting worked up over this, you bought them, whats done is done, I don't think that the fae will be upset at you for making a mistake, i'm sure they make mastakes from time to time too!
Here I just found this:
You can easily tell the difference if you put a drop of water on each specimen come back the next day and you will find iron oxide (rust) on the iron sample but no or only a trace amount of rust on the steel.
I found it here:

If it is iron you could always give them to a friend who dosn't beleive in the fae, or donate them?
I hope there not iron!!!
Good luck!

Thanks Fairies I'll try but I think they're iron. I will try your suggestion. Until then I'll put them in my mom's closet because she doesn't believe in fae. I just knew it was iron but I got so excited that I went against my better judgement. I wish I'd listened.

That way would work on the water as iron does rust faster than most metels. But one will have to scratch the paint so if so. But i would try to magnet first. Cause Magnet will only stick to some metels. So that will eleminate alot. with out any damage done. Then i would do the Rust thing after finding out that the magnet does atract to it. I am sure they are not mad as you did so with good intentions.

Aren't iron and steel the same? If not, I thought steel had mostly iron in it.

I'm glad that there not iron! But yes quite a lot of metals have iron in them , but it could only be pure forms of iron that the fae don't like mabye? I hope that's the case…

Dude relax iron can't hurt them unless they get stabbed by an iron object or something.

I agree with Steller – I am Fae and iron doesn't harm us – it's a misconception. I am anemic. . . Iron deficient and most of my family is too – but Iron does not hurt us unless of course you throw one of your garden decorations at us. We need it to live we just have to get it in a different way – in a way I guess yes it does sap our strength . . . but it's because some of us don't have enough of it in us. It eludes us and we need to get it in our bodies in a different way. :)
