Today June 20th is Summer solstice – now what should we do to honor the fay on this wonderful day?
I did some looking into what Summer solstice really was, it's when the axial tilt of a planet's semi-axis in a given hemisphere is most inclined towards the star that it orbits. Those are just big words for the sun is at it's highest peak, well Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied among cultures, but most have held a recognition of sign of the fertility, involving holidays, festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations around that time.

Well here are a few of this things I will be doing on this day
A recipe I found online for 'Fairy Food' they are Fairy Drop cookies
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
2 tsp. almond extract
Beat butter until fluffy. Add powdered sugar, white sugar; beat until fluffy. Add oil, eggs and almond extract. Gradually add flour, soda, salt and cream of tartar; mix just until combined. Cover and chill 30 minutes.
To bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with fork and bake 10-12 minutes.
Now for a drink i'm going to make a honey flavored apple cider – now i know its cheating but im just using a boxed brand i found at the Grocer. Im also going to be making a jar full of 'wishes' an place them on with the food and drink – honestly you don't have to go all out crazy and dance under the moon naked with them a simple cup of honey and lemon would work if you don;t have a lot of time but wish to give your respects.
Tell me what your going to do on this lovely solstice day ? Inspire others and myself with your ideas!!
