Today June 20th is Summer solstice – now what should we do to honor the fay on this wonderful day?

I did some looking into what Summer solstice really was, it's when  the axial tilt of a planet's semi-axis in a given hemisphere is most inclined towards the star that it orbits. Those are just big words for the sun is at it's highest peak, well Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied among cultures, but most have held a recognition of sign of the fertility, involving holidays, festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations around that time.

the date and time?

Well here are a few of this things I will be doing on this day

A recipe I found online for 'Fairy Food' they are Fairy Drop cookies

4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
2 tsp. almond extract

Beat butter until fluffy. Add powdered sugar, white sugar; beat until fluffy. Add oil, eggs and almond extract. Gradually add flour, soda, salt and cream of tartar; mix just until combined. Cover and chill 30 minutes.
To bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with fork and bake 10-12 minutes.

Now for a drink i'm going to make a honey flavored apple cider – now i know its cheating but im just using a boxed brand i found at the Grocer. Im also going to be making a jar full of 'wishes' an place them on with the food and drink – honestly you don't have to go all out crazy and dance under the moon naked with them a simple cup of honey and lemon would work if you don;t have a lot of time but wish to give your respects.

Tell me what your going to do on this lovely solstice day ? Inspire others and myself with your ideas!!

omg, those faery drop cookies sound very much like the almond drop cookies I bought over at TJ. Maxx in thier gourmet section!   They are soooo good with tea!     I intend to buy some more when they come in- and will have to put some out for the Faery in the Faery garden.

I think your recipes sound divine and definitely something the Fae would enjoy!

:-)

The Faery also love anything sweet in the Citrus family- like Keylime Pie, or Lemon squares, or Orange flavored desserts and candies as well.

Earlier this Spring, I was able to get in touch with my friend, Ron Cordes,   who was led by the faeries who visit him, to send me a care-package of things that the Faeries who visit him felt I should have.   They told me in a letter from him that the Faeries in my area were also waiting for this package and thought it a good idea for me to make a Welcoming Center in my sleeping area for them –       Oddly, I never told Ron but each of the things they sent me were things I absolutely love and would have definitely picked on my own.     Two of these things were actually a bag of chocolate "rocks"– (candy coated chocolates to look like little stones) and also sugar covered Orange gel candies that the Faeries who visit him joke around and call "Lips"     They often ask him to "put the "lips" out for them!"       I am putting these out for them again soon-  as we have ants in our home so I will have to put them outside in the Faery garden instead of in my room..lol.!
