Welll for one we cannot tell you if you are ready, only you yourself knows when.  First off the faery realm is not a place to escape from troubles, its a serious thing and if you dont give good enough respect to the fae it can backfire on you. Not that you wont just coutioning you. well say whats from the heart. well the fae are not robots they think for themselves its like saying what does the human race talk about. Each fae is unique. also be mcareful who you befriend not all of the are nice they are just like humans in that aspect, just like humans their is good and bad.  well if you believe in god or the divine ask for them for help also helps if u have a protection rune. well it took me a good 2 or three years to actually communicate with them so patience is key, if they dont wont communication then they wouldnt be showing up to you even if it is just a rflection. Most people gp all through their lives without seeing one so count ypurself lucky.
