This morning I went on a local Bird Walk sponsored by the local Audubon Society and Wild Bird's Unlimited.
We started at 8:00 am at our local State Park- where I have often felt the Faery's /Pixies happy presence when walking alone there during the Summer. It was just beautiful walking along the woods and through certain trails and seeing tons of various types of song birds- a large variety too- because they are all coming to our area now from migration.
We saw a green heron, an osprey, Baltimore Orioles, Warblers, Chickadees , and all sorts of fun loving birds- we even saw two barn swallows courting each other– at first I thought they were chasing each other until the Audobon instructor corrected us all and told us how they were "copulating"…lol.. "How Romantic!' I thought.
It was such a beautiful morning and you could see the young baby leaves on all the varieties of trees everywhere, and the different ferns and wildflowers popping up. — lots of periwinkle too and purple violets mixed with yellow sunny dandilions– plants that many think nothing of when mowing their lawns–even considering them noxious weeds, when they are the most beautiful magical flowers ever created! I kept thinking as we took our walk how magical everything was- how every wild thing was in such harmony with each other- and how beautiful and practically ornamental the birds looked popping from branch to branch– such beauty and cuteness!
The men on the bird walk were bird experts and they didnt seem to notice the magic I was feeling immersed in as I admired the dangly little maple seedlings hanging from fresh leafed Sugar maples., and how sweet the birds sounded– even if their calls were only for mating or marking territory. They were experts in the names of each bird and their bird calls, but they didnt see the ENCHANTMENT surrounding us!
Standing their with all of them and their binoculars, it hit me how I had asked the Faery to come with me on our bird walk that morning- as well as God- and while many on the bird walk were having a purely mental experience, I was being given a purely MAGICAL experience of seeing the birds and all nature not as something left brain coming from a Text book, but something of magic's highest order –something of joy and beauty that made me want to carress every tree and be a part of Nature with all of the animals and surroundings. I couldnt stop talking to the birds we saw- I had to control myself … but all I kept thinking of was how precious and beautiful they all are- I didnt care if I knew their names or not.
The Faeries helped me realize magic as love this morning and it brought me back to that morning three years ago when I had heard that Sidhe women sing to me before I awoke, "you are helping the flower to seed; all things are precious". This is the highest form of magic- when our eyes are opened and we see what a true Gift all nature is– how utterly beautiful and symphonic. Pure Magic in it's highest level!
