Yes, Midsummer (or Litha as I call it) is a great time for faery contact. This is the first day of summer and the day of the year with the most daylight hours. Light and Life is abundant and spring is finished. Not only the fae can be contacted, but various mythical creatures are connected to this day (Satyrs, faeries, dragons, sun/fire birds, sylphs). 

According to British faery lore, this night is second only to Halloween (Samhain) for its importance to the wee folk, who especially enjoyed a ridling on such a fine summer's night. In order to see them, you had only to gather fern seed at the stroke of midnight and rub it onto your eyelids. But be sure to carry a little bit of rue in your pocket, or you might well be 'pixie-led'. Or, failing the rue, you might simply turn your jacket inside-out, which should keep you from harm's way.

I've never tried that technique, but that's what faery lore says, so you can try it out if you'd like.  Although the best day to actually try to connect with the faery and the spirit realms is on October 31st although traditionally it is a night to remember deceased loved ones and honor our ancestors. but you can still make some great communication with the fae.

So, should we try on both nights? I think we should.
