I was looking at a few of the elven symbols in the Hall of Knowledge today and I noticed that the foreign script above and below the images was in  Anglo-saxon runic which was used between the 5th and 11th centuries.  I have a bit of experience with reading these types of runes, so I looked into a few things the elves have given us and tried to translate them.

1. The Fairy Protection Runne (found in the store):

The way it is presented in the store is the upside down version of the rune meaning "estate", which makes sense because the rune is used to protect your home. I don't know if the orientation that it is displayed in the store is a mistake or if it is from a completely different language.

2. The Faery Protection Flag (found in the Hall of Knowledge):

This is the translation that I got for the thing inscription above the image (note this is word for word, not idiomatic):

"Ash Hail (unkown word) hail elk-sedge ash: Joy Tyr Cattle lake hail (unkown word) ice lake elk-sedge :torch(?) (unkown word) (unkown word) hail lake sun"

So basically using only the words that I could translate it would say: "Ash hail hail elk-sedge ash: Joy Tyr Cattle lake hail ice lake elk-sedge :torch hail lake sun.

I know that that doesn't make any sense, but I searched for other forms of runic and this version had most of the characters used by the fae.

Natalie I was wondering what form of runic this is, and if you could teach us a bit of itLaugh?

Hey Cojo,

1)  The Fairy Protection Rune – yes, I was aware that this is a reversed version of a known rune but this is exactly how the Mr E gave it to me so I am going to have to go with that .  Laugh  Mr E has also said that the picts and the celts owe a lot of their art and symbols to the influence of the elves but I don't know how pure or distorted what they left behind actually is.

2)  The Fairy Protection Flag -  Ok, this one has a lot more to do with me than the elves, I'm afraid.  At first, I didn't feel comfortable writing in english–I'm not exactly sure why–so I encoded what I wrote using Angerthas Runes (fromTolkien) and that is probably why you couldn't translate them.  The top line of the flag reads "Two Worlds, One Earth, One Hope" and that was given to me directly by the elves.  I have since decided to write this in English on the Faery Flag. This is also true for the runes on the other flags which I added because I wanted to add some extra power to the flag by including words like "healing" for the healing flag, etc and didn't think that would look as nice as the runes did.  I did check with the elves before I went ahead and did this and they said that these runes were part of the universal knowledge (like the collective unconscious) and would add the power that I wanted.

Sorry to confuse you!
