I'm trying to compile as much info as I can about a celtic diety named Nudd. I know the basics of his earthly/otherworld reign overcoming the plagues of Britain and so forth.  But if anyone has any practical experience with him can you let me know. It's really important

Nodens alias Lludd Llaw Ereint
Celtic God of Health & Healing
Nodens – later known in Wales as Nudd or Lludd Llaw Ereint (the Silver-Handed) and in Ireland as Nuadu – was the Celtic God of Healing, and the son of Belenos, the Sun God, and Anu, his wife. He had a large shrine at Lydney (Lludd's Island) in Gloucestershire, where the devoted made offerings of small bronze representations of their diseased limbs. He was sometimes identified with the protective Mars or the regenerative Silvanus and his companion and symbol was the dog: a deerhound whose lick could cure the afflicted. An old story explains his connection with amputees. At one time, Nodens was the leader of the gods, but he was wounded in battle and lost his hand. Gofannon, the divine-smith, made him a new one out of Silver – hence his Welsh epithet – though he was still forced to abdicate in favour of his nephew, Lleu Llaw Gyffes (the Skilful-Handed). Later, Nodens was troubled by a constant scream that was heard the eve of every Beltane. He travelled to Gaul, where his brother, Llefelys, was particularly worshipped to ask his advice. He explained that the cry was made by two fighting dragons. Nodens managed to capture the creatures and imprisoned them deep below Dinas Emrys in Gwynedd. Nodens may have been particularly worshipped in London which, as 'Lludd's town' was said to have been named after him.

Looks like chicanarioco has this one pretty well covered, but here's one more link for you that seems to be related. :)

Thanks for doing that. I kept coming up with gaming stuff and was getting very frustrated.  I haven't had any contact.

There are two separate situations which knowledge is needed. One is a terrible trajedy that may have resulted from a broken pledge. However, several people including people who work with this entity don't think it's his M/O I don't know myself. But there are several senarios that I had not considered. So I need to look at this from ground zero again.

THe perpetrator of this may possibly be Udine rather than sidhe.

The second situation is that he may be behind the rather intense Sidhe activity here.  Though I haven't run into him I don't think I have anyway I have run into his children…. or at least it appears so. I'm compiling info so I can assess accurately who I'm actually working with and what they like dislike ect I mean anything outside the normal sidhe likes and dislikes

He and Nuada are believed to be the same.

Just a quick thought here – if you think you may be dealing with sidhe of Welsh extraction, you might like to read the Mabinogeon if you haven't already done so, as it describes at least some dealings between humans and sidhe.

oh yea it's on the sacred writings website. I pretty much have historical info and am at the point of looking for just practical stuff  How is he to work with and all that. He's rather obscure and not many people work with him. At this point I have the historical stuff. He might be the " mystery spirit" except I've heard him described as having dark hair which is unusual for a sidhe.

I didn't think I had a welsh connection but a long time ago a distant cousin in Australia had told me we had connections  related to parts of the Arthur legends. Now I totally blew that off it's silly as far as I'm  concerned. We're not even sure totally of the physical existance of these people at this  as historical figures.  It hink there is sufficient indication but there is not consensus amoung British archeologists and it's not a " fashionable" study at this point. So basically we don't know and no ones working on it.

As to that story, I think someone in Cornwall had a bit too much ale at the pub … but it's interesting that this  has developed. My fairly significant skepticism as softened slightly on the matter. Another thing is the story hadn't been passed along on this side. I knew my grandpa fairly well and he would have LOVED to tell a tale like that. So if it had been passed it woudln't have been missed on his end anyway.  But yet this connection seems to be there on this end regardless of family history and I'm trying to figure it out several things told to me by the sidhe have so far been confirmed which is interesting. This has been the case from the initial contact in March. More things have come to light  since then.

I was also trying to figure out if there was some kind of relationship between Nudd and a famous battle queen who was historical who lived on Skye Scatha It's pronounced that way I dont know the exact spelling. I'm fairly certain that the Sidhe queen Giorsel is either her or is related to her strongly. She had a whole following there. If there is a connection it would explain my questions and provide the historical/legendary tie There would be strong anscestoral ties to any member of the   MacDonald or MacLeod clans whose origins can be traced to Skye or the surrounding areas.  It also explains the strong ties to Cape Breton because the population here on the scottish end is mostly from the western islands.

He's fairly obscure.  I haven't run into anyone whose worked with him. Too bad though  once you get past the historical stuff info tends to dry up when it comes to this type of historical figure.   I ran into the same thing with the Enochian stuff. Even though the system is well known and practiced widely only 2 people out of the hundreds I asked had ever worked with the Hepatarchy, and they are the primary angels of the system.  If it's like that with a well known group of spirits an obscure one's not going to have much out there as far as current info  such as preferences and working with him are concerned at least not outside the usual stuff.

I appreciate your response I know you meant well.

You know…here's a radical thought. If you totally can't turn up anything useful in your research about his preferences, perhaps you could do the equivalent of very politely knocking on his door, explaining the situation and…asking him?

I generally find that anybody worth working with is not offended by that sort of thing. :)

didn't mean it quite the way it came out . He's not popular or all that well known. Yes I will be working with  him I don't expect all the answers prior to doing so just thought I'd check to see if anyone had already walked that road.

For as much research as I've done on the Tuatha de Danann, since I have four of them in my apartment, I don't actually think that Gwyn ap Nudd is the same person as Nuada Silverarm, though the last names are the same, the mythological componants are different.

Nuada never had a brother and never had a wife, as far as I know, and I've done EXTENSIVE research for my Bachelors Thesis on him. If there's one thing that the Celtic Mythology is great at, it's keeping track of whose having relations with who and whose married to who and there is never any mention of Nuada with anyone. Ever. Though, Nuada was wounded in battle, he didn't just lose a hand, he lost a whole arm from the shoulder down. His arm was also eventually grown back by the son of Dian Cecht.

Nuada did end up abdicating his throne to someone, but it wasn't Llew (Lugh). He abdicated to Eochu Breas, who enslaved the Tuatha de Danann, before they drop-kicked him off the throne and reinstated Nuada after his arm was re-grown. Lugh (Llew) was invited to the courts because he was multi-talented, but he wasn't ever given a kingship.

Finally… and most importantly: Nuada was killed by Balor and his right hand man, the Dagda, became King of the Tuatha de Danann. Gwyn ap Nudd (Nodens) is still alive and well and ruling the Seelie Summer Court beneath the Glastonbury Tor. Though, outside of that, I don't know that much about Gwyn ap Nudd, only that he's not Nuada.

A thought just pop up in my head, you guy know hell boy 2, didn't they had a prince named Nauda. No brother, how about a sister? If the hell boy Nuada is really taken from the real Nuada, I wonder, can the make up Nuada match up to the real Nauda in appearances.

Nuada does NOT look a THING like Luke Goss in a bad platinum blonde wig. Every time anyone mentions Nuada, every one thinks that it's PRINCE NUADA from the movie. I'll have you know that you don't even pronounce his name that way. Nu-a-da. That's not how it's pronounced. It's Nu-a-THA. Nu-A-THA, and he doesn't look a THING like that. Not a THING. If I saw that coming my way out of the shower, I'd be positively terrified, all that ritualistic scaring and facial tattoos. Does not look a THING like him, and I promise you that Nuada does NOT have a brother or a sister, especially not one named Nuala. It's purely fiction. I can assure you.

The REAL Nuada has honey-blonde hair the colour of goldenrod, and emerald green eyes the colour of the rolling hills of Ireland. He's at least 7'9" tall and has a mechanical arm that can lift/move twice his own weight. He does not enjoy war, and would much rather have a conversation, rather than an all out fight.

I think I'm done ranting now… Sorry for stealing Ashy's keyboard again, but I couldn't STAND another refference to that movie. I promise, the real Nuada is glorious. ^.^

You made me laugh. How did Nuada got his mechanical arm? interesting. So far, around here, no person walks around with mechanical arm so great as that. 7 feet! 6 feet to me was tall enough already. People on the otherside are tall!
I'm surprise, you guy have shower? (To tell you, I can't image how he looks like, I haven't seen the color of goldenrod or the rolling hills of Ireland.

I think Hell boy 2 is pretty famous, the character i like and pay most attention to was Nuada, he's the villain, but he has a good reason to fight (guess that's why i like him the most out of all characters). Well, at least I know the real one is different from the one in the movie.
