sounds as if she is not psychic her subconcious was probable picking up hints that her parents were not getting along and that her mother was upset and her subconcious was just getting hints that something was wrong with her best friend, the story was just her concience getting her attention.
the power might be real, but I hope not that would to much power and no one should be allowed that much control over the future seeing it is one thing making it happen would lead to the development of a godcomplex and insanity and abuse of said ability

yes very possible her conscious or spirit was trying to warn her maybe it was even her guides sometimes u can change things other times u cant also be careful what u wish for for knowing things befor they happen is a burden one must carry especially when it envolves death for we cannot most of the time cannot stop it
