Reading through a few posts here made me remember the fae ring I saw when I was little in my grandma's garden, where I often left cake and notes out by the pond or in the flowers. It wasn't made of mushrooms just very long grass that had sprung up overnight in the middle of the lawn. My grandad, being a practical man, decided it would be best if he mowed it down to match the rest of his neat lawn. He ran the lawnmower over it a few times but it still stayed taller than the rest of the grass, though not as tall as before, and eventually he gave up. I remember watching and being sure I could see it growing back.

momo,
That's a neat story. Listen: I'm looking to get a podcast off the ground dedicated to modern-day fairy encounters. If you'd be willing to let me share your story on the podcast could you e-mail me at fairyencounters@gmail.com? Thanks so much!

I'm not sure why it was there but there was a certain satisfaction to watching it not be cut to the same length as the rest.
I am aware of the fae that live in the rocks in Iceland but by far my favoured story from up that way is the one about the so-called devil in the woods that ran across peoples roofs at night leaving hoofprints in the snow, if I can find it again I'll recount it but I have forgotten most of the details.
