I know it's been a while since I've posted here; starting college, moving several times, theatre work, and health concerns have been keeping me on my toes! But I do have an interesting tidbit or two to share from the end of 2010 that are still fairly fresh in my mind.
The first experience took place on the night of the Solstice Lunar Eclipse. I was sitting out on our deck at home with the camera to get pictures of the moon for my sleeping family. After a while I got bored with craning my neck up to see it, and so I began searching for constellations that I knew. But then I saw a shooting star, which surprised me as I hadn't expected any sort of meteor shower that night. So of course I made my wish (not telling what!) and didn't think much of it. I got bored again and my eyes instinctively started scanning the woods that surrounded the field that serves as our backyard, but of course my grandparents (who live in a house sort of on the edge of the trees on the other side of the field) had already turned off their lights and gone to bed and so the woods were completely dark; I couldn't see a thing. I then began to notice that the air had become eerily still and silent; all of the living things around the house seemed to be holding their breath. That's when I noticed a faint white shape–obviously glowing–on the edge of the woods. I knew it couldn't be from my grandparents' house, it wasn't far enough away. And if I looked at it directly for too long, it would fade away and vanish…so as I watched out of the corner of my eye, it was joined by a smaller shape at its side, and another that seemed to be up higher in some tree branches, and then another shape behind some trees, and then my heart must have skipped a few beats when I realized: "Oh my goodness they're moving!" The movement was very slight, but definite: Wavering, perhaps swinging a leg if sitting on a branch, adjusting some sort of garment, etc. And it was quite obvious that they were watching. So I kept myself from panicking and watched as well, since there seemed to be nothing negative surrounding them, only curiosity and perhaps some sort of assuredness. The white figures stayed there for a while while I photographed the eclipse, perhaps almost two or three hours, before I saw yet another shooting star as the eclipse was beginning to end. I wished again and looked back at the figures and saw them fade and vanish one by one, in reverse order from which they appeared. And then the air wasn't so still or silent anymore; it was really quite eerie.
What I found most intriguing though about this experience was that the area of the woods they seemed to appear from was one that I had been drawn to ever since I was very little. It's on the edge of one of the swamps, and shot through with huckleberries, blackberries, ferns, wild violets, old oak trees, patches of soft moss…it's really very pretty and magical, and a wonderful place to watch fireflies in the summer. I had also dreamt of visiting this spot almost as often as I've dreamt of the river nearby. It almost makes me wish I was home right now to investigate the spot further instead of cooped up in a college dorm. XD
So there we go. Another long-winded post from the fae journal of Hatter, hahaha~ I'll try to write about the other major happening tomorrow, or at least sometime soon. C:

Ohhh the sighting sounds so exciting ! Now we know what you wished for when you saw the shooting star :P.
You should have went the next morning to investigate ! Would be interesting if you would found anything, cause maybe they left you a gift ;), or something :).
Thanks for sharing your experience

There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story.

Very interesting experience. Definatley sounds like they were fae or nature spirits or something like that:)
Dont worry I know exactly what you mean, being in a cooped up collage dorm is the last place anyone wants to be in after having the freedom of outdoors and nature!

How beautiful!! They were Faery for sure! I wouldnt doubt that are very familiar with you and felt comfortable with you and your grandparents home there near that area you have always been drawn to.
Congratulations for that experience and I can't wait to read your next testimony!

Ah, thank you all for your replies! ♥
Aredhel: Hahaha, that wasn't necessarily my wish, though ;P
Actually, I did end up going back to visit, although I didn't find anything that could have been left. The clearing/area was the same as it ever was~ But I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it next time I go home!
SpiritOfNature: I think so as well, although some family members have suggested that they may have been ghosts/spirits of the Native Americans that lived on our land thousands of years ago, although somehow that idea doesn't stick with me as much. And yes, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way; I've grown up in the woods, and now I live in an apartment on campus in the middle of town. I'm still not used to it xD
FloralDreams: Yes, it most certainly was :]
Lisa: Yes, it did feel that way. Although what surprised me is that the figures were as tall as humans, if not taller; it was my first time experiencing something with the larger fae while awake, and it was honestly kind of startling! xD And the next one should be coming soon; I've just been so busy with keeping up with school that it's hard to get on the forums as often as I'd like.
