hey there !

i thought i'll make a post about a book i bought called the Book of Faery Magic written by lucy cavendish and serene conneeley. I have to say this book is really great loads of infos about history and Faery lore to working with the faeries, a chapter with all the types of faeries around the world and the Faery Courts (which has a few pages about the seelie and unseelie and it makes you look at the unseelie really differently!!). Chapters about christanity and faeries including Rev Kirk story and others. The end of the book is a bit fluffly though with faeries recipe like cookies and stuff but overall i loved it.

check it out Wink

Sounds beautiful!

I've been reading about that Rev. Kirk and I can really relate with him.   I dont think he was whisked off to the Faery Realm, but actually did have a heart attack on the faery mound.  He was at that age when men with inherited heart problems will get heart attacks.    Nowadays, there is help- but back then if you had a heart attack, it was over for you.

Probably his soul continues to work with the faeries to this day-   Rev. Kirk was given the gift of being able to see the other realms that work with this Earth-   and it really changed his life and made him more detached from this World.–I think God permitted him to have this experience, to help him remain unnattached to things the remainder of his life.

In a way I also feel this– especially after having my own personal encounter with a Faery Being in my own home..   I know now what Mr. Kirk knew much longer– that these Beings do exist.    I only saw a glimpse, but he saw and heard more–  and they trusted him with alot of knowledge they shared with him.  He wrote a journal that was never published until after his death.

The book looks attractive-   and the authors are clearly putting it out there to draw young people.     I think it's cool that they added the part about Rev. Kirk and I do hope they didnt say anything bad against Christianity.   Sadly, many of the Christian religion gave the Faeries an undeserved  bad name throughout history–  but they were using Christianity as a cover for thier fears and prejudices.      If they were more open to God, they would have found that they could actually work WITH the faery realm- and that the Faeries could teach them more about God's Creation than they ever imagined.

That's exactly what the book had to say about it !Laugh although the book is definitely not against Christianity it just pointed that there was a time where the Church tried to make people believe that Faeries were evil etc.. but that overall the Faeries remained in human hearts.

I never read anything about Rev Kirk before this book, my opinion is that it feels like he was torn between his religious views and what he saw in the Faery realm.

I know that the people living around him at that time in history put all the faery realm in the same level as demonic entities.

Some of the religious people still do  today.     In fact, when I shared a little of my testimony of seeing a Faery face to face over at the Curezone forums,   one of the reliigious members there emailed me to be careful because I probably saw a demon.

I didnt even bother replying back to him–    I KNOW this faery was no demon-  you could tell by her eyes – in fact,  she had totally unselfish love and empathy towards me coming from her eyes.   I've seen denomic beings in dreams I've had,  a demon through someone who was possessed by one,  -and two in a photograph- and there is an evil glitter in thier eyes even when they are smiling at you.     Totally not the case with the faery I saw.    I saw photos of St. Therese of Liseux , Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Ghandi- and all three had the same kind of light in thier eyes as this Faery did…

So Rev. Kirk probalby faced alot of  religious critiscm  from the religiously proud people around him-   many probably thought he was being led astray by the devil, etc…     When in actuality,  God was allowing him to see other realms and how they work with our realm– and how all are connected.

The Scots also had a tendency to view the Sidhe in a very bad light. It also looks like many treated the Sidhe cruely whenever they were encountered  . Yet it remains a very traditional part of the music and lore so it's kind of a love hate thing.

thank you both for your input i love getting other people's opinions it makes me see things in a different light Wink and yes i think it must have been really hard for him with all the criticism, it probably took a lot of courage to step out of his ways and check for himself what the Faery realm looked like at that time.

I know SOME people nowadays still feels like everything out of the ordinary is evil, i try to tell them that it's just a projection of their fears and anger that creates evil, some agree, some don't .

I would think more than likely that the apprehension Christians felt would probably be due to actual bad experiences by a few. It is typical that if a person is maligned by another person or group with distinct physical differences, to presume that all similar members of that group are also malicious. Also, the likelihood of Christians abandoning their faith (or more likely putting it on the back burner) in order to pursue fae would have an impact on our faith in general. This especially holds true today, where so many “shiny things” are out there to draw one away from the pursuit of God's kingdom. Even Christian items, like books, CDs, etc. can be overindulged in to the point where God becomes secondary.

I have seen something that I am sure can only be described as some type of fae, but it was just a creation like me, not the Creator nor His Son. I find them immensely interesting and I learn whatever I can, but it must always remain an avocation at best.

You know it is true that there are demonic entities all over the place- and many do imitate angels as well as Faery Beings., so it probalbly is very true what you said, Seriad- that many had bad experiences with those – and to err on the side of caution, just blocked any open-ness to the ones who really do love God and people.

Also a good point about the fact that one has to be very careful with Beings that appear as shiny and attractive- There is a beautiful side to Evil people do not realize.–   used to entice.

And yes,  very true-  they are not to be worshipped and early Christians may have realized a danger in that.     Those who work on the side of Light don't want to call attention to themselves and be worshipped.    The faery that I had encountered also was not comfortable with me gawking at her either-  she was focusing on my sadness — I could see empathy in her eyes and could tell she was feeling my pain at that moment for me.  That's why she wasnt aware I could see her at first.

The reason  I was able to see her was because I had said a prayer asking God to allow me to meet one of these Beings if they exist.   He answered that prayer. but He didnt answer it so that I would take my eyes off of Him– but to see that there are other Beings who work for His Kingdom and a larger Body of Christ than we humans are aware of.
