This is for all you mermaid lovers out there who missed this on the news recently …
Mermaid fever has officially arrived in the Israeli beach town of Krivat Yam as locals and tourists alike flock to the place where dozens of people have claimed to have recently seen a young mermaid.
Many of the sightings have taken place at sunset as the mermaid, described as a cross between a fish and a young girl, jumps like a dolphin and performs tricks for onlookers before disappearing for the night.
According to Sky News, one of the first people to see the mermaid was Shlomo Cohen, who related this story: "I was with friends when suddenly we saw a woman laying on the sand in a weird way. At first I thought she was just another sunbather, but when we approached she jumped into the water and disappeared. We were all in shock because we saw she had a tail."
Of course, without proof, it is impossible to say for sure what people are actually seeing. Not only is this phenomena usually happening at some distance in the low light of sunset, but it is also being partly obscured by the water.
Perhaps the $1 million reward, that Krivat Yam officials have offered to the first person that can prove by photo or capture that mermaids do exist, will help solve this intriguing mystery!

I had heard of this too! I truly believe they exist and the people may be seeing one of them..
I think they are interdimensional , so thank God for that– as noone will be able to catch them. Isn't it typical of us humans to want to catch something like this – Bigfoot, mermaids, faeries, etc, for a reward?
How sad!!
I think if the people are seeing a real mermaid, the fact that she seems young may be the reason– The young tend to be more playful and sporty– so this mermaid must be enjoying thier attention knowing that she is too elusive for them.
I think she probably got scolded from her elders– as they are not too keen about humans.

hey lisa and nataile,
this is amazing!!! a mermaid…wow! i have always wanted to see one of these wonderful creatures…but, sadly, i haven't.
honestly, i hope that the humans don't find her. it's not fair for humans to go and try to CATCH one! i mean…it's just….wrong…
but, this is very interesting! thanks, natalie, for the post.

Wow no kidding! I'm totally knew with this whole type of thing. I find this sighting very intresting. My little fairie friends are telling me they are quite concerned for her I dont blame them! I'm sure she has family nearby. I've noted many aquatic creatures come in groups so I personally feel if something happend her friends will be very mad!

Im concerned for her too– I just said a prayer for her and put her before the Creator's Throne for protection. I don't think mermaids normally call attention to themselves like that so she must be young– and I bet the older and wiser ones in her family arn't too thrilled- knowing how mankind is like.

I agree.
I think that those people should be honored to even see a mermaid, it's a rare sight.
It just kind of makes me mad that people are kinda waiting around and trying to look for her, just so they can take a picture in exchange for cash.
I think it's quite pathetic, they should leave her be.
If someone saw a mermaid, and then took a picture, and then everyone saw it, it wouldn't be a special memory anymore, or a rare sight..

Yes, I do worry about an intense manhunt for the mermaid but I think she probably is clever enough to stay out of harms way.

I would not worry about her getting caught by the likes of us, fairies are a very elusive kind. ^^ I have seen a mermaid or two in some of my Neverland dreams however. Yes, I travel to beautiful places when I dream sometimes. Although, it has been happening less which is sad. I wonder what caused the change? =/

That is what is called? =0
It happens randomly but it is nice whenever it does happen. ^^
They are fictional places though like Narnia as well and Hyrule (for any of you Zelda fans).
I have been to a very large and enchanting garden once.

I have had some contact with mers and they are interesting but not exactly warm and fuzzy. You are right, they are cunning and mysterious and their main concern is their own survival–which I don’t blame them for at all. As a whole, they don’t really seem all that connected to humans (or very fond of us!) but they wanted me to get the word out about their concern for the health of their home, the oceans and sea where they live. It makes me wonder about the pollution in the area where this mermaid was sighted. She sounds like she is playing with them, trying to make the same point as the mers that were communicating with me.
As I mentioned before, I don’t think they will ever catch her. It seems from her behavior that she is very confident that she won’t get caught.

Isn't it enough just to see the Mermaid? Why must they catch her or her essence in more than just the words of the fortunate few? Not that they will or even can. It simply seems so incredibly disrespectful and selfish.

yes- half person and half fish. I've never seen one- but have read of people's encounters with them. I think I saw the YouTube video of a mermaid- but that did not look at all like one.

THe combination isn't always exactly that. Nixes look human except for one part ( usually the teeth) Udines can be very dangerous. They have a hard time comprehending that air breathing isn't a bad thing.
