I will use this thread to post the modern day encounters I find on the internet-  There are lots of them — fairygardens.com is a good site with alot–

Here is my recent encounter the night of my birthday- May 12, 2009-   I didnt see the faery but I heard her right upon awaking from sleep.  I posted this over at the Cyberfae forum back in May, and Willow- one of the members there followed up with her own experience:

Now that it is Spring here, but our nights are still cold, I invited the Fae's to come inside my room and stay warm while I slept. I slept soundly last night,and then I awoke to the feeling of someone really close to me– and the sound of humming bird wings flying over my head — near my bed's headboard!

It wasnt my imagination, as I still continued to hear the wings fluttering as I was fully awake. Then when I went to get up, I heard it zip away fast .

I knew it was a faery, having read alot of people's encounters on the internet where they saw them in this form moving about like hummingbirds.

It is my birthday today, so I look at it as a birthday gift from them, to have this experience this morning [Image Can Not Be Found]

Wow!!

That's great! I remember waking up myself one night and seeing a little fae near my window. She had a lovely glow and had dragonfly wings. When she realized I was awake and saw her she sort of jumped and disappeared out the window. I remember hearing the buzzing noise of the wings just like a dragonfly. It was such an amazing experience and I will never forget it.

I hope you continue to see the beautiful fae as it is such a gift.

This is from Patrick who posted his encounter on the main Real Faeries website.  I was going through the old posts and hadnt noticed his post before until yesterday.

"Wow, I am surprised to find this site and hear everyone’s experience with fairies. 3 months ago, I would have thought everyone was crazy because I was not a believer. I am now.

A month ago I witnessed something that I still struggle to believe. I am somewhat of a skeptic with these types of things so I really don’t know why they would show themselves to me.

I was laying on the couch relaxing and getting ready to go to bed when a glowing yellow light flew by my head. It didn’t scare me because I could feel peace and warmth coming from it. I could hear a child’s laughter in it as well. It was about 2 feet from my face and was about 2 inches in diameter or a bit smaller than a tennis ball. It was as clear and real as anything tangible you could imagine.

It changed my view of the world and what science tells us to believe. I consider myself to be a reasonable person, but what I witnessed was beyond reason and definitely not a hallucination.

I now know what my cat has been playing with at night. I thought his behavior was odd as he seemed to be chasing invisible objects and playing at night.

I have seen lights flying around since and can only assume that fairies are living somewhere near my house.

I live in Colorado as well as some of the other posters here. Its nice to hear other experiences about this situation. I don’t feel alone and I don’t feel insane.

Thanks,

~Patrick"

Hi Dante! thanks! but my birthday was actually May 12th!    That post was my post back in May in the Cyberfae forum–  where I shared with the people there a visit I had with a hummingbird-sounding faery I heard fluttering over my head when I woke up on my birthday. :-)

It is so beautiful that I feel like crying — I pray that this young adult keeps a connection with the faery in her later years. One does not have to only be a child to have the open-ness she had when she was very young.

Fairy Castle
by Dreamer24

Most people my age don't even consider the existence of fairies and elves to be true. But I think otherwise. You see, for a long while my eyes were opened to a beautiful and unbelievable world. It began only a few weeks after my family moved to Pennsylvania. Being only eight at the time, I was in the backyard playing with some of my toys when I looked over and saw a very small woman, only about three inches high. She had a flowing white dress on and her hair was reddish brown; whether or not it was tied up I do not recall.

I had exceptional knowledge for my age and I ran inside immediately shouting with great excitement, "Mom, dad! I saw a fairy! I SAW A FAIRY!" My mother had seen a fairy as a child and she believed me. I've never been sure if my dad did; it was hard to tell if he thought I was just playing a game of sorts and that he should go along with the ride.

I went back outside not too long after and slowly I could see and understand their world more and more. I told only my immediate family and a few close friends, whose names I will leave anonymous. My friends were a bit skeptical at first, but then they could see them too. We built fairy houses out of natural materials. We helped them decorate for festivals. I know it sounds like a made-up child's game; I know it sounds like a few girls with overactive imaginations, and that's what I feared too, but there are some things that I could not explain.

Here is one. My friend and I were having a sleep over at my house. We decided to go outside and play a bit. Snow had fallen only a few days earlier. My friend ran ahead of me and ran away to where I could no longer see her. But something caught my eye. One of the mounds of snow was carved into a shape. I stopped running and looked closer.

It was a castle! I very small castle! Every detail was perfectly carved. The windows had bits of clear ice in them! It was like a dream. But it wasn't. I showed it to my mom. She was amazed. That's only one thing. For a while, I understood a world mankind had lost track of long ago. I understood beautiful elfen princesses, wars invisible to us, everything imaginable.

But I was growing up, and we both knew I had to leave. I sit here typing trying to remember the amazing creatures they told me of, the wondrous places, but it's all slipping away. I'm almost 13 now. I tell no one in fear they would think I was lying, or that it was all my imagination. Though I can see it no longer, I know a wonderful world exists that many cannot see, and no matter how much time goes by, I will always believe in that secret world we hid from ourselves so long ago, and I will always hold it close to my heart.

Fairy Collision
by Chris

A long time ago, back when I was five or six, I was in my grandma's back yard. It was very foresty back there. There were a lot of trees, and everywhere accept the grass was covered in leaves. There were mushrooms growing under one of the trees… you get the picture.

There was a party one night. I don't remember exactly what we were celebrating, though. I went out in the back yard and looked up at one of the trees. Then, what only could be described as a fairy flew down and bumped into my face. it recoiled and clutched its head, as if disoriented. It looked at me for a second then flew off.

I ran inside to tell my mom. Of course, she didn't believe me. Although I don't remember exactly what It looked like, I'll try to describe what I remember. It was about two inches tall, human shaped, its entire body glowed yellow, and it had little wings, each about three inches long. I swear that this story is true.

The Fairies
by Kelly

My whole life I have been out to find fairies. Ever since I was about five years old, I had been addicted to their mysterious, delicate and beautiful features that I have seen. My parents always told we that I would never find any and that they were not real. I kept to my beliefs and told them I was going to find one if it took my whole life. Well, one night my little sister and I proved them wrong.

It was a very clear July night and a beautiful full moon. I had decided to take my little sister out to the orchard (which was right across the street from my house) to lie on a blanket and look at the stars. On our walk over there, I saw a circle of mushrooms. I said to my little sister, "This is a known place where people can find fairies." She looked up at me and whispered, "Do you think we will see some." I did not know what to say to her because I did not want her to become disappointed, so I told her that we might, but they can be very unpredictable.

So we walked around the circle to get out of all the apple trees and peach trees. When we laid down, my sister started to ask me about what I had known about fairies. I told her every thing that I had known at that time, then she got real excited about seeing a fairy. We both laid there very open-eyed, looking for a fairy. Then my sister looked at me with wide eyes and said, "Sissy, what color are all of the fairies?" I told her that they could be any color. Then she asked if they could be blue and green with sparkles. I responded while getting the idea that she had seen one, "Yes. Why? Have you seen one?" She said, "Well, yea I think. They're all over there by that mushroom circle."

As I turned my head in disbelief, I was wondering whether my lifetime dream had come true. Sure enough, it was true. When I looked in that direction, all I saw was a light source with five green and blue brighter lights. I got up slowly thinking that if I walked up to them slowly that I could get a closer glimpse. As soon as I was about two feet away from them, they all disappeared. When they disappeared, I could swear that I had heard the music that sounded like it was coming from a harp. They all flew down like they were hiding under the mushrooms.

I knew it was bad luck to pick a mushroom or even disturb it, so I just looked as close to it as I could. Just as I was looking under the mushrooms, I heard the voice of my dad. My sister and I looked at each other with disbelief in our eyes. We ran inside to tell my dad the story about what had just happened. He looked at me like I had gone mentally crazy with my obsession with fairies. I told him that I would show him, and we all walk across the street.

When we got to the other side of the street, I could not see the fairies, but I could hear the harp sound that I had heard before. I told everybody to walk very slowly and to make no noise. We got about six feet from them and we could all see the blue and green lights from a distance. My mom and dad looked at each other with confused faces. Then he looked at me and said something that meant so much to me, and I never thought that I would hear him say in my life: "You were right. Fairies do exist."

Ever since then, every full moon, we all sit in the orchard and listen to the beautiful harp music and enjoy the company of the mystical creatures that live across the street.

Same with my mother-  forget my father- he's hopeless….lol!

But my mother actually was open when I told her about my encounter.   I think the reason she accepted it was because she has had some paranormal experiences in her life-   seeing an angel when she was younger, hearing extreemly beautiful music when she was struck ill with pnuemonia when I was a kid., and other things.    Plus, when I told her, she could look right in my eyes and know I wasnt lying.

Here's two more testimonies I found on the web today (i called off from work..yayy!!!)

fairysource.com/naturespiritphotos

Faery Globe Testimonial

"…I've seen the globes, too! I never would have believed it myself, but seeing is believing. Now I realize that I'm not nuts.

They told me to eat vegetables and brown rice. They also told me about lemongrass. They have an interesting sense of humor. They told me to do some silly things like eat dirt, leaves, and bark off a tree. I ate it, and I think they laughed or something.

I saw them in a good sized redwood forest in the Santa Cruz mountains. (Scotts Valley). I heard these voices, and went outside with my flashlight. When I got to a big stand of trees, I turned the light out, and sat down.

7 or 8 balls of light appeared. All different sizes. Yellowish white light. At the time, I had no idea what I was looking at. I call them nature spirits…

"I am not at all shocked that they have appeared to me. I'm really into nature, and I spend a lot of time outside, including gardening. I've always been really into plants, and animals.

I guess the main message was 'the spiritual world is very real.' There must be millions of nature spirits! If that is true, this whole entire planet must be spiritually alive.

I just thought I'd share my story." – Glenn

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I would like to share an experience, I don’t know if it was fairies or what. The other night while I was in my room I heard three chimes, which sounded like Fa, La, and Re on the musical scale. The first ring was over my bed, the second around my nightstand, and the third which led me to the fairy sculpture I had on my dresser. I turned off the lights, hoping to see something. I saw an outline of something, midair. I held out my hand and felt something land – or even sit – in it…
The chimes were as real as anything, I’ll swear to that because I was shaking." – Christina
The Snow Gnome and Everything Has Consciousness
Some of we more spiritually minded people have memories of seeing "spirits" and all manner of creatures, fairies, devas, angels, dragons, elementals, nature spirits, etc. Many of us have have always had a passionate fascination for nature.
Not only are the nature spirits, devas and such alive so are the trees, plants, flowers, and even the rocks and minerals. Everything has consciousness. It's just that the consciousness and awareness of a rosebush is not going to be the same as an animal's nor a person's. I also believe that we can communicate with all life forms. Some people say that they talk to their plants. I am one person who does. I know that they can feel my love and positive energy when I water them and visit them daily. I would like to share a couple of experiences that I had:
I visited the Hare Krishna home base back in the 1990's that honors Swami Srila Prabhupada, the movement's founder. On the second day went for a walk in the woods and were asked to maintain total silence during the duration of the hike. I could feel my energies shift and heighten. There seemed to be magic in the air. Then suddenly I found myself looking at the magnificent beautiful towering trees that so graced the forest. I closed my eyes and gave a silent prayer to them for all they have given to us.
Then I heard a voice in my head say: "We joyously and lovingly give our trees to you to build your homes with, craft your works of art with, to burn upon your fireplaces to keep you warm, and for many other purposes. We only ask for some gratitude in return and unfortunately most never think to give us gratitude for our gifts and sacrifices to you. Thank you, kind soul for your gratitude. You have filled our tree souls with joy!"
I was aghast and almost let out a cry. Was I going crazy? Was my imagination working overtime? I certainly was not on mushrooms or any drugs as I don't do drugs. I never shared that experience but I never forgot it. And to this day I have to have lots of trees around me and I hike any and every opportunity that I get.
Second Experience: I was preparing myself to do a public channeling some years ago. It was during the Christmas holiday season. I took a nice walk outside and lost myself in childlike wonder and awe as I observed all the beautiful Christmas bright lights and decorations that graced the neighborhood. When I came back, I went around back to admire my friend's huge Oak tree. Minutes later, I seemed to fall into a light trance or something. And then out of nowhere I beheld this short man with a pointed hat, suspenders, breeches, and a big nose. He said that he was a snow gnome and that he and his kin lived in the oak tree. He said that they seldom come up to the earth because of the stench that most mortals emit. He added that the snow purifies the land and the air for a time, and during such times a snow gnome will occasionally make an appearance to a human when they perceive that the human is of pure intent and good hearted. We had a nice conversation. He told me that he was over eight hundred years old as were many of his kin, and we talked of other things. Then he bowed and said he must take leave.
I could not get him out of my mind. A few days later I wrote a story about a snow gnome. I know that he was real. It was just not 'reality' on the third dimension mundane level that we call ordinary reality.
In any case I found the snow gnome very fascinating and a good soul. I hope that he fares well and perhaps on some snowy wintry day, I may go back to my friend's house and see if he shows up.
I have also had a genuine Faerie encounter. A few years ago I was visited by a beautiful lady who came to me in a vision type of dream altered state. She taught me about soul merging on her distant planet she called Sulva. I have been visited by and gone on spirit soul journeys with many wonderful and wise beings who taught me so much. Some inhabit the higher astral planes while others come from distant stars but they are all loving, wise and very kind. I always learn something from each of them and my life is enriched when I have such encounters.
The soul is truly vast. We are all interconnected and can enjoy the company of our countless 'other worldly friend' who exist and live on many different dimensions and dimensions. Let us rejoice and give thanks for our oneness!
Blessings,
Michael
Iceland's "Hidden People"
Magnus goes on to give an account of an event from 1936 where a man called Thorlakur Steffanson who had been walking in the forest in northern Iceland in a place called Skagfjordur appears to have an encounter with the hidden people that saved his life, "He'd been walking for hours and hours and was freezing to death. Eventually he came across a light among the trees, went over to it, and found it was a farmhouse. He knocked on the door and the farmer invited him inside. When he asked them the name of the farm, he said it was called Heggstarir. He replied that he'd never heard of that farm before, and reasoned that he could no longer be in Skagfjordur. To this the farmer replied: "No you are in Skagfjordur, we are what you call hidden people. We are always here, but you cannot always see us." Steffanson was slightly wary of these people, but they were showing him so much hospitality that he agreed to stay the night; especially as the weather was terrible outside. Magnus continues, "The next morning when he woke up, the skies had cleared and he could see through the window where he was; not all that far from his home in Skagfjordur. After breakfast, he headed off on his way, stopping every now and then to turn and wave goodbye. After he'd gone 300 meters (330 yards), he turned one last time, but the house was gone. He didn't believe his eyes, so he followed his footsteps in the snow back to where the house had been. It had been snowing all night, the landscape was thick with snow. But when he got to the place where the house had been, his footsteps stopped, and the house was not there. He never saw the house again."
In his friendly way Magnus goes on to explain encountering skepticism in his classroom, "Over the twenty-three years that I've been collecting these stories, I haven't believed every one I've heard. But the more I look into it, the more I realize we are just scratching the surface of a very big phenomenon. These witnesses will stare into your eyes and tell you that they weren't drunk and they weren't on drugs. They will stare at you with such conviction, take you to the place where they saw them, draw pictures, repeat the story over and over. They are looking for somebody to believe them. To help them make sense of what happened."
A witness with several encounters with the hidden people is Hermunder Rokinkrans. His first encounter with them was at the tender age of four. "As a child we lived just outside of Hveragerdi, a town thirty-five kilometers (22 miles) outside of Reykjavik. Our house was on a hill near a cliff ", Roskinkrans recalls. "One day I was playing in the yard and heard the sound of a bell. I looked up and saw about seven kids aged between four and ten coming from a small cave in the cliff. They were all dressed in white and had dark hair. I went over to play with them, and we spent the afternoon playing with spiders and beetles and picking flowers. I saw them about eight to ten times that year. I'd hear the bell and then they would arrive. Later that year my father died, and we had to move to Reykjavik, and I never saw them after that." Hermunder did not realize that they were hidden people until he was about thirty years old, as he says, "When I was thirty, I asked my mother about them, and she said she didn't know what I was talking about. She said I never had any playmates when we lived in Hveragerdi, because where we lived was too far from the center of town." I hope anyone reading this series is enjoying it and hope to have the next part here very soon. Peace and be well to anyone stopping by!
I have read similar stories before about Iceland and I just love them–something is definitely going on there. Smile
The Magnus Skarphedinsson referred to in the story is the head of The Icelandic Elf School and you can find an article on him and his school here:
Today, 54% of Icelanders believe in elves and hidden people and a full 90% of the population “takes notice” of this shadow community, which is said to number anywhere from 7000 to 20,000 inhabitants.”
for that much of the population to believe in the supernatural then either the elves there are very open and trusting, or the people there live very peacefully and have many encounters.
I MUST travel there one day and see elves for the first time outside of a dream
I would love to travel there too– But I think I will wait until their Spring/Summer season…lol!  Cool
Thanks for that link, Natalie- I would love to take classes at that man's school!   I like how he describes the various Beings very much how people actually have seen them in modern encounters all over the World– including in America:
"Icelandic elves, for example, can have long, spindly legs, big ears, or crazy hair but they don’t wear pointed hats or shoes. Such garb is found on an Icelandic dwarf, perhaps, but he could just as well be wearing a long cloak or a beard.
Hidden people are dressed like old-time, country folk, even though these same hidden people have been known to label us regular mortals as the "primitive" ones. In fact, there are so many variations that an entire flora has been described: 13 types of elves, 3 kinds of hidden people (including the Blue People), 4 varieties of gnomes, 2 forms of trolls, and 3 types of fairies."
I wish America and other Countries would also have that spiritual conscoiusness where we would respect natural areas–for the sake of the Faerykind.
This happened not too far from where I live:
http://paranormal.about.com/od…..02_19t.htm
On October 12th, 2009 in Lake Ariel Pennsylvania, a strange incident occurred. I enjoy building little forts in the woods near my house, and I was gathering straight, four-foot-long branches, which are hard to come by. I had gathered about 15 of them, then it was time to go inside to do my homework (it was 4:00 p.m.). I piled the branches neatly in a stack in the middle of a clearing in the woods. I walked to the house and began my homework on the patio.
Once I was finished, I went inside to watch my favorite daily cartoon on TV. At 6:30, the show finished and I got bored. I went on my computer and heard a rustling in a few leaf piles outside my open window. I excused it as one of several of my outdoor cats, and went on with my computer time. At 7:00 I ate my supper and watched the news. I went to bed to read at 9:30 after folding some laundry. I fell asleep at 10:30 and woke up at 8:00 a.m.
I ate my breakfast at 8:15 and watched a cartoon at. At 9:00 it finished so I got dressed and went outside. I had my binoculars for bird watching, and a notebook and pencil to record the birds I saw. I noticed the leaf piles were scattered around the yard and they had to be re-raked. I ignored the fact that more helping my mom rake the yard was coming, and I set straight out to the woods.
I came to work on my branch pile, and saw that about 50 branches, perfectly 4 inches around, and four feet across, had been placed there. I gasped, wondering who found these perfectly straight branches. I was planning on extending my ground bird-watching fort as I hauled several branches at a time to my site. Once I had updated my fort, I sat on the old rickety swing set and read for an hour. I walked around the front of the house for 15 minutes, just poking around ant hills and messing around with grasshoppers.
I came to the backyard to go back to my fort when I saw at my stick piling site, believe it or not, a little human-like creature! It freaked me out just looking at it. I noticed it was piling sticks in the piling site for me — those perfect, four-inch-around and four-foot-across sticks. The perfectly straight ones. The ones without fault. The little man was climbing trees and snapping out branches. I gasped as it nimbly hopped out of trees and dropped sticks onto the pile.
He was about four feet tall with a hunch in his back and brown hair all over. All I could make out of it is that it was creepy. He had such long hair that it covered everything on its body. Its hands had no hair and they were white. I saw no visible nose, but black beady eyes. He walked like a monkey. I freaked out and stood rooted to the spot. Suddenly, my legs felt ice cold and I ran away, trembling. As I ran, my legs heated up and felt like they were on fire.
When I was in the house with my shade and window closed, all doors locked and shutters closed, I relaxed in my room, cuddling my big golden retriever, Sudsy. We both fell asleep, but we both woke up to the rustling of leaves outside. I cracked open my shutter the tiniest bit and saw the scary human-like creature racing through the leaves, bouncing up and down, and speeding around in circles. It took handsful of leaves and threw them in the air as it danced under the decaying shower. Sudsy growled and the animal stopped dancing, rooted to its spot. It looked shame-faced at the messed up leaf piles and slouched away. My eyes followed its progress as it made its way to the woods. It hopped nimbly into the trees and gathered sticks (presumably for me). It laid them in pile and, suddenly noticing me, it straightened up and grinned at me with crooked, rounded, stubby teeth. It waved its left foot at me, as if it was a greeting, then left, disappearing into the treetops.
For the next few days, it left me sticks until my mother screamed at the sight of my helper. I had started leaving him grapefruit halves, which he ate gratefully, but after the screaming, he peeped through my shutters and then never returned. I have always remembered this unusual creature finding the perfect sticks, but never had Shingle (which I named him) return again. Although Sudsy finds Shingle's footprints in various places in the mud, I have never, ever seen my woods buddy ever again. (Although I occasionally leave out grapefruit, hoping Shingle may one day return.)
Garbage-Eating Troll BY RONNI M.
By , About.com Guide
It was June 15, 2009, about 14 miles outside of Monroe, Louisiana, near a place called Rocky Branch, where I lived. My son and I were driving toward an old town called Farmerville to get a Coke, and we were using my mother's truck, the gas gauge of which didn't work too well. We ran out of gas. We got out of the truck and began walking back toward Rocky Branch, and in the meantime I called my husband to come pick us up as it was time for him to be getting off of work.
The sun was just starting to set, but not dark out yet. More like shadowy, but you could still see everything real good. Anyway, we knew that we had to walk about five miles to get home, and on the way we had to pass up these three huge garbage cans on the right side of the road, where all the locals hauled their own garbage to.
We were walking along, basically grouching about our predicament. As we passed the garbage cans, we got the shock of our lives. There was this thing that looked just like a freaking Troll out of a Dungeons and Dragons book! It was standing there eating out of the garbage can. It had a big, wide forehead, a long nose with wide nostrils, and a long, skinny chin. It had long white hair and big huge eyes. It had a large torso, but skinny arms and legs. When it saw us, it crouched between the garbage cans, as if it did not want to be seen.
My son took off running like a steak of lightening up the road, yelling "What the hell is that?" He was 17 at the time, and me, well I was right behind him. All I could think of was, "Please don't chase us, whatever you are." My son and I were running like champs and hoping that the thing wasn't mean and that it wasn't following us, because as we walked on it was getting darker and darker, and there were woods on both sides of us.
Finally, my husband came and picked us up along the road after I called him on my cell phone. This story is no joke. This really happened! All I know is, there are some strange beings out there that are as real as you and I are! Just how many, I don't know. But what I do know is that I'm not crazy and I don't do drugs. I don't even drink, to be honest. What I saw was absolutely beyond the shadow of a doubt, REAL!
