My encounters with the fay began a few months after I first began researching them on the Web and through books (see my introduction post for more details). I thought I would take it to the next level and instead of just reading about them, I would start talking out aloud to them. At first it felt really strange because I'd never done anything like that before. I guess it would be the equivalent to praying, and that was the thing – I'm not religious, so I'd never even considered praying before. But I did my best to speak as clear as I could, with respect and made sure never to sound demanding or threatening. I spoke to them like I would a good friend. Basically what I did was tell them all about myself, why I was talking to them and what it was I wanted to achieve by doing so. I spoke to the fairies until I had run out of things to say. I was always honest, so I told them it was all new to me and I didn't really understand who the fairies were. Then I laid down and went to sleep (I was in bed). The next night I spoke to the fay again. This time I told them about my day, and a little more about myself. I told them everything. Plus, just before I finished I politely asked if it would ever be possible for me to see them. When I'd finished, I said "goodnight" to them and laid down to go to sleep. I was laying on my back, in the dark, looking up at the ceiling and the strangest thing began to happen – I began to see small streaks of light, like shooting stars. I would describe the light as being a hazy, pearl-like white and very very faint. At first it was only one or two a minute, but eventually, it began concentrating in a small area and became sparkles. I wasn't frightened, just really excited that something was happening seemingly in response to my words. I said a huge thank you out aloud to the fay and told them that I really appreciated their efforts and their trust in me. I told them also that I wasn't frightened and they were very welcome in my room. Shortly after, I couldn't see the faint sparkles any more and I turned over and closed my eyes to go to sleep.
My next encounter happened about a week later. I didn't see the little 'shooting stars' or the sparkles again, but I began seeing white flashes of light in the corners of my eyes. Mostly at night it happened, but I also saw the flashes during the day. I also saw moving shapes, again in the corners of my eyes. So, I acknowledged the fay and thanked them for appearing to me this way. Again I told them I wasn't frightened and that I appreciated their efforts and trust and how I loved having them around me.
This continued on for many months. So you can see, the fay didn't rush things with me – they took things step-by-step and I believe they were observing me to see what my intentions were. Contact with the fay came very gently and very slowly. At this point, I started to sense them when they were near. I would feel tingling on my head, as though my hair were standing on end. I would feel a warm tingly sensation in my chest; a very joyful feeling like a cross between being in love and wanting to laugh. I was still seeing flashes and shapes. It was also at this time that I started leaving offerings to them at night. Things like: cheese, bread, milk, honey, cake, chocolate, fruit, biscuits, even beer.
The next major experience happened November that same year, early in the evening, while I was sat at my computer. I was reading a website that was putting forth the idea of the fay and humans living together once before, and as our differences separated us, humans began persecuting the fay, driving them away into natural areas. The website also went on to explain how the fay became three main groups: the seelie, the neutral, and the unseelie. I suddenly felt a tingling on the left side of my face so I turned my head to the left to see if there was anything there. And I saw a yellow diamond-shaped spark. As soon as I saw it, it performed a 'U' shape swoop to the left, into the corner of my eye. I turned again, only for the yellow spark to do the same 'U'-shaped swoop out of my vision. I turned again and it had gone. I was quite excited to see this and told the fairy I had seen her (it felt like a her). I thanked her, told her it didn't frighten me and that I was grateful to her for making the effort to appear to me and for trusting me enough to do that.
Since then I have seen floating balls of light that ACTUALLY moved around objects in my bedroom, a body-shaped flash of light on top of my computer desk and flying sparks that made a snapping sound. I've heard my name being called, I've heard grunts, I've found money in random places when I needed it, I've found my gemstones moved around, and I've bumped into many humans who could very easily pass for fay.
These are my main experiences. I have had many more, but it would take too long to describe them all.
