Possible video of a fairy…?

I found this very clear video clip posted up at forteantimes.com, a website devoted to rational thought about strange and unexplained things:

http://www.forteantimes.com/co…..nsect.html

The video shows a parent putzing around in the backyard with his kids, video-recording things the kids are doing. After a bit they notice a strange, not-quite-dragonflyish insect in a tree and get closer to investigate – only the insect turns out to very clearly not be an insect, and it, too, is alarmed. Its reactions strike me as those of a small critter trying to scare off a bigger critter that terrifies it.

The question is – and the debate at forteantimes.com was – is it for real, or is this an example of a hoax being pulled by someone with cgi video software, which could easily create the 'insect' as the kind of real-looking special effect we see in movies nowadays? On the other hand, Mr. E has said that the smaller ones can sometimes cross over…

I wonder if Mr. E would recognize this type of being if he saw the video? Natalie, Susan…I know you guys are really busy, but if you get a chance at some point, is there any chance of getting his opinion, and possibly a bit of info on this little guy if he's for real?

Or perhaps someone else knows something?

Whoooaaa.

That was creepy. It looks fake to me but then again who knows?

Wow, very interesting. I don't know how somebody can fake a reaction like that –especially with kids. It looked pretty unexpected. I don't wanna bet on anything; maybe somebody who has actually seen a faerie can shed some light? I'm not sure that that's what it'd look like. But fascinating video! Thank you for posting. (o:

Ohh, I love this video!– I saw this over at  YouTube some months ago , and I do still think it could be geniune.   The Being that appeared to them was not a stereotypical faery Being, and his skin was very dark–  not what we would expect with Faery Beings, yet  the faery I saw had soft cocoa brown skin-   and I hadn't expected that either.  I imagined them all to have flesh colored skin.   It seems he was near a bee  or wasp nest of some sort- and maybe this Being was a Nature Guardian for these types of insects.

If the video is genuine,  he was probably curious and watching this family videotape their entire yard–   and he hadnt' expected them to suddenly go towards the apple tree.   It could be he was also getting energy from the apples from that tree– the sugar–  just as wasps and hornets do as well from fallen apples.

Britain always seems to have alot of faeries actually manifesting themselves more than anywhere else.

Many people have seen faeries appear in dreams or while they were awake-  with dragonfly-like wings too.

Thanks for that link Athidal!

I remember seeing this ages ago and thinking it was CGI (that was before realfairies) but now I am not so sure…If you pause at 1:48 you can really see that it has a humanoid shape.

On the subject of videos of fae, there is a really good website called irelandseye dot com and it has a 24 hour video camera set up somewhere in ireland (I think its in Co. Kerry). A lot of people have claimed to see leprechauns and other fae…….

This reminds me of a movie that i saw once called "pans labyrinth". I think that this is genuine, children dont usually scream and run for nothing. Also a grown man running is a rare occurance *giggles*. Maybe Mr.E can tell us if it is possible that the little fae slipped through the veil.  Smile

It looks real except for one thing that someone on YouTube pointed out in the comments — the sound of the "fairy's" wings flapping is really loud. As you can hear from the video, the camera does not capture sounds that loudly, especially from a distance. So I think it's a fake.

Wow. It looked fake yet real at the same time. Like the make up of it looked fake, yet the way it flew away seemed so real. Wow.

Well I agree the kids looked pretty scared.  You would think in a fake they would be saying "oh look a fairy".  I also like this video.

Well, I was going through this thread for a page I am creating on Modern Fairy Encounters and I noticed a question about this video.  I have answered this some where else but I wanted to mention it here.  I think there is a good chance this video is real but I guess I wouldn't be shocked if it turned out to be fake.  To answer your question– yes, because of their small size, the  pixie types are able to come through the small tears in the veil that are occurring now and that is why they are the type fae that we see most often.

Thanks for taking time to respond, Natalie. :) Somehow I seem to have missed your other response, so I do appreciate it.

Im not sure but… hmm i better look again .Definatly real dragonflies! lets say two dragonflies like in mating season?Ive seen dragonflies alot fishing on lake shores many times .On a rare ocasion, you see this raspy buzzing noisey doubled dragonflies flying around,er rather drunkardly bouncing on the surface of the lake clumsily. Thus accounts for the two legs ,but mayby i should look again for the human like arms. Or some other detail i missed?

Yes it's two real dragonflies doing their natural thing. As you can see it at first, the seperate insect flapping its wings on top independently of the other. When the startled insects lift off the surface there's a temporary blurring and a human female image is morphed superimposed on the doubled dragonflies.I guessed if photoshopped the breasts would cover the insect eyes and a head was grafted on top, arms added .One of the flapping wing sets would be blurred because of the rapid flapping looks like one insect wing that cant flap well.If it was real ,going from what ive actually seen(the ethereal blue fairy spirits). This blue fairy spirit may have possessed one of the two dragonflies bodies for some unknown reason.A blue translucent ectoplasmic fairy spirit seems to show a some understandable scorn on her face from being interrupted by the kids.It puzzles me too that the dragonfly thing backs up as if to flee and then charges forwards forcefully chasing the kids silly indicating at the same time the cranky look of that humanlike head. The frightened man operating the camera seemed genuine too.Ethereal spirits could morph in to any shape possible too (my belief).
