The Summer solstice of this year is the 21st of June. It is the point of the year when summer starts and the earth's axis tilts and adjusts itself at it's closest point towards the sun. The winter solstice is the exact opposite and takes place on December 21st.

In Wicca the summer solstice is called Midsummer or Litha. It is the day of the year with the most hours of daylight, and many people pay tribute to their god on this day as it is believed that the patron god (which differs among individuals) is aligned with the sun. People who are aligned with fire or have close connections to fire spirits are said to have enhanced abilities during this time.

In case you were wondering the winter solstice is called the Yule and is dedicated to a matron goddess. People who are aligned with water spirits gain enhanced spirit on this day and it is the day with the fewest hours of daylight out of the entire year.

Well, not much specifically. The solstices usually make the veil very thin so that a few may come through to our realm, but the fae don't really have anything to do with it in particular. Magic is hightened and it is easier to contact any kind of spirit on these days. If the fae is what you want to contactthen this would be one of the days to go for it. The fae are only 1 category of beings that exist in reality, they're just one of the most popular ones in this realm.

The fae are active at the summer solstice, but they are much much more active at Beltaine, May 1.  It's like their favorite holiday!!Wink
