This is way off topic, but has anyone here seen the movie Inception yet? If you haven't, I encourage you to definitely see it! It was absolutely amazing and touched me in a way that I don't even understand. It was like it woke something inside of me; the amount of inspiration I recieved after seeing it was staggering.

Also, the score Hans Zimmer created for the movie is simply moving. My favourite piece, Time, is just breathtaking. I'll post the link below.

So if you've seen Inception, post your thoughts here!

I loved it! And I agree, it touched me too, and made me cry — and that alone makes the movie a winner in my book! It also pushed me to take my lucid dreaming goals more seriously. I went out after the movie and the first thing I did was buy a nice notebook to keep track of everything in :D

Plus, I think Leonardo DiCaprio gets more and more handsome the older he gets! :D I have had the BIGGEST crush on him forever lol, and I do think looks aside he is a brilliant actor.

I know you; I walked with you once upon a dream.
I know you; The gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam.
Yes, I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem.
But if I know you, I know what you'll do.
You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream.

It made me want to give lucid dreaming another go as well! When I tried before, I gave up quite easily but now I'm ready to work at it. Maybe I'll take a leaf out of your book and get myself a journal too =P Have you been having any luck with it?

And Leonardo DiCaprio is a great actor =D I have to admit though, Eames (Tom Hardy, I believe) won me over almost immediately. I think it was the accent, haha.

I thought it was a really neat movie with some very interesting concepts, and the whole sequence where they were having dreams within dreams made me feel really odd since I've had that experience before. For me it was like each dream was in a thinner reality, and it sort of made me want to do something akin to popping my ears during the movie. ^^; There was some really nice acting, too – I agree about Leonardo DiCaprio, although I liked Ken Watanabe as well. And the hotel sequence was pretty epic.

For anyone who wants to try their hand at lucid dreaming, I've got a couple of loose suggestions based on research and personal experience.

1. A lot of people have better luck with having lucid dreams if they are sleeping while it is daytime. I think all the lucid dreams I've ever had happened after sunrise, and especially if I'd woken up and then gone back to sleep.

2. Figure out at least one kind of test you can do if you ever begin to suspect that you're in a dream. That will help you to focus on the idea that you might be dreaming, and sort of snap you into awareness. For example, I've got two tests. One is, can I fly or levitate? If the answer is yes, then I'm dreaming. The other test I use is, can I poke my finger through something that should be solid without hurting either it or my finger? If yes, then clearly it's a dream. And of course, once you've confirmed to yourself that you're dreaming, you can decide what to do next – the sky's the limit! Just remember to keep remembering that it's a dream. It's awfully easy to forget and just slide away into ordinary dreams if you don't take care.

At least one of these two tests has always worked for me, but you should use whatever tests feel comfortable to you. :)

Good luck!

I would like to add that if you feel like you are going to fade out of lucid dreaming just keep thinking "I am dreaming" and look, even stare, at something bright and unmoving to keep you from getting dizzy (I know it sounds weird but it really does happenSmile)… with this technique I have been lucid dreaming for almost every dream I can remember…LaughSmileLaugh

Those are all great suggestions! =D

I've also started trying musically-induced lucid dreaming. I'm not sure if this is something that's out there as an actual way to lucid dream, but it just came to me as an idea a few days ago. I picked an instrumental song that really speaks to me and listened to it on repeat while I read about lucid dreaming, hopefully linking the song and idea. Then I listen to the song on my iPod while I go to sleep. It works fairly well actually. I become aware that I'm dreaming, I just can't control anything. It's like I'm watching a movie. But practice makes perfect, I guess =P

That's a really good suggestion for inducing lucid dreams!

It's been my experience that just wishing for something to happen in a lucid dream doesn't make it happen – you have to actually decide it's going to happen, and then focus your willpower and put energy into making it happen, too. If you repeat the same kind of thing (such as flying) over a span of dreams, over time that kind of thing gets easier to do. Practice makes perfect, I guess. Maybe next time you're dreaming you could try adding focus and willpower to making something change? :)
