in this movie its about a little girl that hears things comming from the basement of the house. the creatures are pretty little and they eat childrens teeth and bones of people and in exchange they give you silver coins. they were nasty little things. saw a picture of a hobgoblin it kinda resembled them. i was just wandering if there was such a thing out there that would actually do this?

As for your hobgoblin theory, I have to admit that it is quite flawed. Hobgoblins are, although mischievous, generally harmless creatures. The creatures in that movie resemble general plain goblin activity.
Goblins are members of the malevolent Seelie court, and have been known to steal and eat small things like cats. They are also greedy and myopic, making them prime members of suspicion as to the identity of these creatures in the movie.
I would not be surprised if they ended up being a species of goblin. It would not be unlike their kind to make demands of silver in exchange for a false sense of security.

My first thought was "goblin" too when I watched it. I do like that they were actually referred to as "fairies" in the movie, though, since many seem to think think that fairies are all cute and nice and that goblins are something else entirely.
