Hi all

It has been a long time and I am seeing lots of new people on this forum which is great!

As some of you may remember I am from South Africa and I come to you with a very urgent message:

There is a nation of people who are in desperate need of help from outsiders. The bushmen (or San) are a peaceful, hunter-gatherer people who have been living here in southern Africa for longer than any other nation. Their range used to cover most of southern Africa but now is restricted to the Kalahari with a population of less than 110 000 left. They are one of the few people who have managed to keep their deep connection with the earth and mother nature but now they are under serious threat.

The South African and Botswana government has forcefully removed thousands of Bushmen from their ancestral lands into squatter camps with little food or water. They get arrested for hunting on their lands with their tradtional bows and arrows and gather the essential food and medicine that they require from the land. Many San have been shot dead for trying to pass on the Old Knowledge of their ancestors to the younger generations. The goverments are trying to change the Bushman from their old ways and remove them to make way for the tourist industry. 

Many Bushmen in the past have been exploited by military and security companies around the world for their exceptional tracking abilities but the promises were never kept for in return they were told they would be able to go back home, which never happened.

These people live in harmony with nature, they are extremely intuitive and very humble. Bushman hunter has very few possessions, perhaps just his bow and arrows, his fire drill and a couple ostrich egg shells with water. They can talk freely with the birds and the antelope as if they are all one Being and they see themselves as part, not above (like many people now do) of this beauitful creation.

They need our help before the the San, and their knowledge disappear forever. Without outside help they are virtually helpless. They don't deserve this kind of treatment for they have done nothing wrong.
