Please Mr. E, I need help and desperate of getting rid of an upset (i think) goblin!..can a goblin HURT someone??? it said that it was in my basement and i know when it's around bc it smells weird. How can I get protecting and to make it not cause me bad luck?!

Last night a goblin and also something called amazon female warrior contacted me and at first it was nice saying that it needed help with trees and to stop the chute and feeder (my neighbor is cutting down ALOT of trees but they stopped and now they are putting the trees through a feeder) but it was around 12 midnight that it was talking to me and it told me to hurry and maybe I upset it or something because I didn't go outside(midnight) and I'm not sure how to help. It said it was drawn and that it trust..i'm not sure if it's saying that it was drawn to me or something else? and it kept saying spruce tree and that it was being tricky…it also said that it didn't contact me earlier bc it was shy..it definately had a sense of humor but i'm scared ..it said that it was brawny and has arrows to shoot me with and that it was watching me and that it wanted booze and that i was it's buddy (even after saying mean things) and to make renew..also it said that it wanted jewels(do I give it jewels?) and to leave a penny at the edge of a lake or stream. It said i needed to make a florist shop and store flowers and plants. it said that the trash smells (I have compost) it also said i was a flirt? and to marry? help! seriously…I stayed up all last night with the light on and couldn't sleep! it said I was cursed..?! is it all in my head or is it happening? it said that it is watching me! it also sneered UGH! what do I do?!

P.s it also told me the numbers 8 and 60 do these numbers mean anything?? I also heard it babbling..it was very weird.

The book fAERIECRAFT by Alicen and Niel Geddes- Ward  has a good goblin banishing ritual, dont show your fear you need to be dominant, ask  for your gaurdian angels protection, and sleep with some iron under your bed or pillow, no matter what keep the iron , the goblin may try to trick you to remove it . sometimes the iron is enough, if not you need to do a goblin banishing , the instructions are easy its the attitude that needs to be correct, dominant , no fear. you can do it !

Glad we could help! Those flashes may well have been your guardian angels, if their being there made you feel better. Those kind of connections are definitely worth cultivating. I honestly have no idea whether the flax seed thing is true, though it puts me in mind of the story about how scattering mustard seeds stops vampires because they're obliged to stop and count them. Sounds a bit silly, but I guess you never know. If you do decide to try it, please let us know what happens! (Iron's probably a better deterrent, though if you use that you need to be careful not to wave it at any friendly fae. Bit of a double-edged sword there, iron.)

You can tell iron when you see it because it is dark, almost black-coloured, like the skillet in this picture: skillet , and it is heavy. Really old fashioned scissors and tools might be made out of iron, but most any scissors or tools you get these days will be made of steel, which is made with iron but does not work like iron. Actually, most things these days that used to be made of iron are now made with steel or aluminum instead, which you can tell because they look bright and shiny. Probably the easiest things to find nowadays that are made of iron are cast iron skillets, and possibly crowbars. 

Again, though, I would urge you to be really careful with iron if you hope to ever make friends with any friendly fae. Iron is one of those things that screams 'I don't want you here, go away' to them – sort of like how openly carrying around a loaded gun would make most humans feel. And of course you don't want those nasty goblins hanging around, so that's fine. But please make sure that you have a way to put the iron away if you want to. (Like, I wouldn't recommend getting a cast iron bedstead unless you REALLY never want any faeries to try to contact you while you're asleep.) I totally understand that seeing things out of the corner of your eye is kind of freaky and creepy – I get that, too. But wouldn't it be a shame if you accidentally scared off someone who could have actually been a friend? ^_^

Sounds like that book has some pretty good advice in it. :)

You know, normally I'm really careful about books that say they'll tell you all about faeries because there are people out there who don't know a thing about them, but will make up stuff they think people want to hear and put it in books just so they can make money. But this book sounds like it might actually be on to something. I'll have to check it out at some point.

As for what I see, it isn't really much – just motion out of the corner of my eye, style of thing. Though once I saw the motion more directly, and it was sort of like the Predator effect – a moving distortion in space – but it was only about six inches tall. That's not enough to conclusively prove anything, I guess, but between that and the other interesting things that have happened here and there (prefer not to go into details, I'd really rather not have it be construed as bragging, that's a really touchy point)…well, anyway, I try to make sure and leave fresh water and a bit of something tasty every night, just in case there really are friendly Smalls about. :) Incidentally, if you haven't been to see the movie "The Secret World of Arietty" yet, it's pretty good, and is based on the books about the Borrowers by Mary Norton. I think she may have known something about Smalls. :)
