I came across this site while searching the web about gnomes, and this is so very interesting! 

I am compelled to now make a spot on my mantle to attract fairies and work on my garden some more :)

I am also quite certain I may have a house gnome, and wanted some advice? 

I don't know why gnome was the first thought that came into my mind when we moved here, because I have never particularly even thought as gnomes as real, but it was the first thing that popped into my mind when weird things started happening around here, and whenever something happens, I always speak to said gnome! 

Things go missing often, and then show up out of nowhere, even though I checked that spot many times! And often nice things will happen. I voiced to my husband that I was looking for loose change around the house, and I couldn't find much. Then, the next morning, there was change on my desk, my couch, everywhere, like someone was listening and wanted to help, but knew I couldn't find change that was hidden far away! 

Today, my daughter has been teething very badly, and likes to chew on her toothbrush to help. We were leaving the house, so I put the toothbrush on the couch, and when we came back, it was gone! I was a little upset, because I have to brush my daughter's teeth hah, so I'm hoping the toothbrush will be back on the couch in the morning. 

Any advice, opinions?

Yes, I guess we are very lucky indeed :) 

I have been putting together a little "home" to invite fairies, below are some pics – please let me know what you think. 

I have a hanging bell in there, some hanging pretty ribbon, some pebbles, a colorful shot glass full of fresh honey straight from the hive that my mother-in-law gave me, a pretty infant bracelet from Pakistan, a butterfly statue, and I put a soft piece of blanket on the bottom. I have lots of colorful pictures and stickers, as well as the fairie flag on the front. Please let me know if you think the doorway is big enough – and I have cut out windows on the sides. 

I thought about putting this in my daughter's room, because her room is already very inviting. I have trees, and all kinds of animals painted on her walls, music is always playing in her room (she will only sleep listening to music), and she has a fish tank in there with very colorful fish.

I'm thinking that this being you describe could also be a house brownie. They are known for playing tricks and hiding things.

Usually speaking aloud and asking for them back politely does the trick.
