Hey Dramamine

Thanx sweety. I will wait for BEAR's answer when he gets back.

I will try the Mint though. What do you mean ? Mint in cookies or something ?

Recently Nat said that if you burn Damiana, Sage and Mugwort together in charcoal its the BEST way of communication and opening your third eye or psychic abilities.

I wish I could do that. What is a TAOIST way ?

just make it: "just let things flow like water…Deep Breaths and meditation always help :)"

Do you understand better now? : )

Also, you should do what Nat advised you deffinitely! If you can't find it from a shop, either, then you could always use Ebay :D hehe (love Ebay)

She means mint by… like spearemint, or mint… the herb. :P

(which i had in my yard already, luckily!!)

Well, I wish you good-luck with everything, and I really wish you well with the herbs. : )

That's REALLY cool that your husband is a scientist, by the way. Just wondering… does he believe in fae?

Haha, yes… I can never sleep, and ironically, my favorite animal is an Owl :P

Hee! I hear you about your husband, Navneeta – my boyfriend is also a scientist. Looks like we've both got to be careful! I don't know if your husband would go for it or not, but I've discovered that I can get away with a lot of strange stuff by explaining it as an experiment…for example, but I've had some pretty good success with explaining the stuff I do in our backyard as experiments in organic gardening (which isn't exactly untrue… ^^).  And of course, my boyfriend is always a fan of anything that means less mowing in the yard. I bet your husband would also be a fan of anything that means less work for him. :D

By the way hon, be really careful if you do get any kind of mint plants (spearmint, peppermint, catnip, plain mint, or whatever). Mints are very sturdy and very invasive, and if you let them they will take over everything around them and just spread out everywhere. They spread by putting their roots out everywhere, so the best way to keep them under control is to put them in a container like a big flowerpot or something, where the roots can't get out and wander. It's entirely up to you whether you want to bury the container in the ground; I don't.

On the other hand, they really do smell wonderful. Last year I had a fabulous chocolate mint plant which, unfortunately, died because I'm beginning to think this one flowerbox I've got just kills anything that gets put in it, even mint. :/ But if you can find chocolate mint, get some! It's really cool! :D

Good luck with opening your psychic abilities, and be sure to let us know what happens! :)

Don't knock science! The research just isn't there yet to be figuring out how some of this works. Though to fool a scientist like that takes some cleverness. I applaud you. Mint is a pretty tough plant just make sure that if you put it in a pot that it is a really good pot. After all if a weeds roots can go through pavment I think mint roots can go through just any pot.

Thanx Athidal & Zachary for such lovely TIPS bcz I seriously didn know that MINT grows like weeds. Come to think of it I think my friends whole garden was taken over by the mint plants. I will definitely keep that in mind.

What kind of scientist is your boyfriend ? I mean physics, chem, bio, molecular bio, aerospace enginrng ???????

Well Athidal I also applaud you for fooling a scientist. Mine is a Chemistry Engineer and is a faculty here at the University of Wyoming so I don't know if I can really fool him though. I will try my level best to make APRIL FOOL of him dear. Gr8 idea by the way sweety. Never thought of it.

I hope this plan might work in the name of garden. Although I have pretty much threatened him that I wanna build a Fairy Garden and thats it. Did you see my post on GARDEN on this very forum ? I mean my BIG plans for faery garden ? Please let me know how do you find it ? If it were in my capability I would totally build an English style garden with climbers hanging on my arched garden gate. But I have told our gardener about my design and if we agree to do it this year then I'll definitely post my garden pics.

Thanx Athidal for asking NAT about the herbs 4 communication. But how do you burn them in charcoal ? I mean where do you get that ? How do you do the ritual ?

Please, Please, Pleaseeeeee let us all know wen you do this herbal experiment. I will keep you posted too.

Thanx 4 all the help guys Wink.

Hm, good point about the roots, SirZachary! The roots couldn't actually break through a plastic pot, but if the pot has holes at the bottom for drainage they might find their way out through those. Better not bury that flowerpot after all, Navneeta! :D

Your garden sounds lovely, I hope you get to do it the way you want to. :) You are so lucky to have a gardener to help you out! English gardens are lovely, for sure…I love them too, though I think the fae folk, especially the smaller ones, do like to have at least a small corner of the garden to run wild. But yes, please post pictures!

My boyfriend probably isn't quite as hard a case as your husband is, since your fella is in one of the 'hard' sciences (meaning that Math is King for what he does), and mine is a biology researcher in a neurobiology lab, where math just kindof helps a lot. (Life refuses to submit to math, I guess. ;) ) My guy says he specifically avoided the hard sciences because he prefers something with a bit of inexactness to it – some art, I guess, to balance out the rigidity of logic. :) He's also a lot more generally open-minded to fantasy/sci-fi and weirdnesses than a lot of scientists are, probably because he keeps finding Time doing such strange things around him. (And he enjoys doing the Mad Scientist schtick. XD) Still, I haven't really got him in the loop on the faerie thing because a couple of times when the kind of weirdnesses that I have gotten used to happened to *him* – laughter in his ear, a lamp turning off by itself, he sort of freaked. So I don't think he's quite ready for that kind of thing yet. He hasn't quite made the jump from believing in quantum physics to believing in genuine magick yet. Maybe in time. :)

As for burning herbs on charcoal (and I believe it was Stellar who originally asked Natalie about herbs :) ), here's a quick set of instructions I found at http://www.somaluna.com/info_i…..ehowto.asp :

(Rats, they don't allow copy/paste! Guess you'll just need to follow the link, sorry.) Anyway, I've never tried that either, but it sounds pretty easy. :)

Good luck with everything, and do keep us posted!

OOh My Bad Athidal I thought you were the one. Still thank you so much sweety for all the INFO.

My guy is hard core scientist. Yup you got it right. He teaches chemistry like Physics and he loveeeeessss Math ofcourse.

I will keep in mind all the tips about the Mint leaves.

I am SORRY but that is soooooooo Hilarious that your boyfriend freaks out wen the faeries MESS with him.

So do you lotsa fairies in your home ? If so, that is so exciting I must say.

I would say keep trying with him bcz atleast he's interested in strange things. Some day he'll come around and get convinced. Good thing he's a BIOLOGY guy which I think might help him connect with the nature as he understands HERBOLOGY I guess. Dont you agree ?

Take baby steps raindrop. It might help.

I am excited bcz the garden accessories have started coming in the market. Wooohooo !!!!!!! YAYAYYYY !!!!!

Lol! Naw, I'm just an artist whose parents bludgeoned Science into her for so long that logical thinking has become my default mode. It's got its upside and its downside, and now I'm just trying to find the balance point between the two.

The BF is a pretty cool guy (that's why I love him!), but he is learning about nature along with me. ;) His specialty is neurobiology, so he can tell you all about cells and viruses and microbiology. His lab is one of the main ones in the country that is researching how to repair spinal cord injuries, and there are folks who are now able to walk again instead of being confined to a wheelchair because of the research from his lab. ^_______^ But you're right, he does understand that life doesn't always follow strict rules like math, so there's hope that one day he'll come all the way around.

As for faeries around here…I'm pretty sure there are some, and that from time to time they do things to try and get my attention and let me know they're here. It's been that way for years, and was one of the reasons I stayed at these forums after finding them. It's been more intense since I went out into my backyard last year to propose a project to the Locals, and they seem to be a pretty conservative lot; they've been watching me fairly hard ever since. Mostly they seem pretty cool, though I've run into one for sure who wasn't so keen. I try not to say too much about them here on the forums since that is part of our agreement, and there've been a few times when they let me know I was crossing a line by preventing me from posting. (Let's see if this one gets through, lol).  Also, a lot of the time since then has been spent more in trying to improve my communication channels than in actually communicating – trying to clear the static, basically. ^^; Overall though, I think they're pretty cool dudes. (No Gentry that I'm aware of here, though – but then, I gots a lot of static.) But I'm also pretty sure that this area has Trooping Fae, since last year there was a very distinct and sudden Absence on the day after Halloween. (I'm heavy into the spring cleaning right now, trying to get as much done before Beltaine as possible. I definitely plan to be on the lookout to see if there's more feeling of Presence starting then.)

Anyway, have fun with your garden! ^_^

Thanx for all the INFO dear. Oh so you're in contact with the Faes then. Good luck on a better communication with them. I guess if you do the Damiana, Sage & Mugwort burning then it would most definitely help you as Nat said. I have to find a way to fool my hubby. Anyway where can I find these herbs anyway do you know ? You are 1 lucky GAL then by God's grace that you are in touch with them.

So when this post went through then most definitely the fae must be okay with this. So how do you know when they disapprove your certain posts ?

You have a garden too ? Oh so you have Trooping fae too ? Bt didn Mr. E said that you should be careful bcz they don't have same laws like the Seelies or the Elves of Fynn of not harming humans. Bcz if they want to they can harm you.

So what is the actual JOB of Trooping faeries ? Have you seen them yet ?

Is your husband a particularly observant kind of guy? If not, then maybe you can get away with just doing things without calling his attention to them, as long as you don't get too obvious with what you're doing. :) Or maybe you could get away with saying "Because I like it," if he asks you why you put something somewhere (a fae house, for example). That's a reason that's hard to argue with. If you want to set out snacks for fae, it's probably best to choose a place where he isn't likely to look very often, if you can, in order to avoid awkward questions and/or protests about attracting vermin. (I've never had problems with vermin being attracted to things I set out, and even my cats mostly seem to leave the snacks alone, which is a small miracle unto itself. XD Just sayin'.)

As for the herbs, like Natalie said, if you have a local new age/pagan/alternative store, you could probably find them there. Sage, at least, you can get at grocery stores, and the nicer sort of grocery may even have packets of fresh sage. Natalie said something about selling Damiana, though I can't find it listed in the Real Fairies store, so maybe it's coming soon. Otherwise, the Internet and Google are the needy shopper's best friends! XD

The reason I haven't said a lot about the local fae is partly because our communication isn't strong yet (my fault, not theirs) and so I'm rarely entirely certain about what I thought I 'heard' from them. It's also partly because when we did manage some communication, some pretty firm ground rules were laid out for me as to what and how I could say things I learned from them, and partly because this is really Natalie, Susan, and Mr. E's place and I don't want to infringe on them in any way. ( I can't channel like Susan can, after all. She has a really special gift.) Sometimes there's a fine line on what I can say or how I can put things, like when I say that I really need to restrict myself to generalities when speaking of them here. Usually things I figure out on my own are ok to post, but there's been a time or two when someone decided I was getting too far ahead of the game, or something, and nixed me. I will say this – what one of the new fae said about some fae understanding technology quite well, I will heartily second. They are very capable of influencing technology to make their feelings known, and I don't think it's too hard for them to figure out the nuances of it when they want to. At the moment they are being kind and just log me off the forums instead of letting me post if I accidentally get too froggy. The first time, though, our router completely died and had to be replaced. That's expensive, so I hope you can understand why I don't want to risk that kind of thing again! And it's not just computers, either. The morning that I had an appointment to take my kitten in for the preliminary examination to be declawed, suddenly out of the blue my car wouldn't start. Dead battery. I had to get a jump from a neighbor.  (Thankfully something about the entire experience got through to Mr. Kitten, and he started behaving a little better. He still has his claws, which I didn't really want to remove anyway.)

Anyway, my point with all of that is to say that it is possible for them to affect technology if they want to (and that's how I know if they don't approve what I'm trying to post), so be careful what you wish for if you want to contact the fae. And be prepared for the unexpected and inconvenient. :) But yes, I do feel very lucky, and honoured that they care enough to pay that much attention. And yes, thanks for the reminder about Mr. E's warning – it is another reason why I'm trying to play nice. Big hint: Fae like it when people voluntarily pick up litter. They'll help you *find* the stuff so you can pick it up. ^^

I haven't actually seen any trooping faeries, but the first night after I tried contacting the fae in general, when I got into that paralyzed state right before you get to sleep, I heard and felt a pixie buzzing me, and she sent me a sort of mental image of herself and another kind of Small that apparantly lives around here. (By Small, I mean they seemed to be about the size of a human thumb or so.) The pixie was glowing so very brightly that I couldn't make out whether she had clothes or anything, she was just a humanoid-shaped glowing form with long, streaming hair and wings; the light had a reddish tinge to it. (She specifically didn't mind me talking about her, so there ya go. ^^)

Okay the men who don't believe.. They're specially given to seer's to ground them so they don't go to far off base.  My husband while he believes tends to be very skeptical I see it feel it then I might believe it and I might not sort. He examines things very slowley carefully and methodically and doesn't ever make assumptions or jump to conclusions based on a couple facts. The best thing to do with these lovely gems is to let them be. Most men hate being pushed when it comes to beliefs about spirits and such and some don't like to share with others what they believe exactly. oh we butt heads don't get me wrong but when I push it too hard and I start loosing touch he's on me like a squirrel on a pile of nuts.  He may be seeing something and not sure what to make of it and not really ready to talk about it. Let him do his contemplating in peace. Ask the spirits to make themselves seen by him for your sake and then let them do their work, but you have to leave that between him and them. I 've learned a lot  from my other half. I don't make assumptions as quick as I used to and I have learned to see the spirit from different angles and I found that we don't have to agree to love and accept each other.

I find this all super interesting!! To have such strong believers living with people who are not so sure….it is almost like fate!! haha…but I think its also good to be skeptical because then when you accept something its that much closer to the truth or is the truth you know? I don't know I should be more skeptical with myself…

Keeping a healthy amount of skepticism is definitely good. It helps you sort out the things that are truly unusual from the things that have common, rational explanations…and then like you said, you're more sure of the genuinely unusual things. :)
