Hey.  I met a few of you on the chat the other night.  For everyone else, I'm Sara.  I'm 34 and living in Ontario, Canada.  I'm interested in 'Them' (in my family's belief, it is bad luck to refer to them directly, so we always use 'Them' or 'the Gentry' instead) as a way of reconnecting with my ancestral roots and the beliefs that have largely been erased by decades and centuries of interference and hostility from ignorant religiosity.  My family is a mix of English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh.

Though I've had many ghost experiences, I have not had any recent personal contact with the Gentry (that I'm aware of, anyway), though I am convinced there was a thriving community of them on the property surrounding the house I grew up in.  I do not think there are any around the house I'm living in now, and would like to encourage them to take up residence.

Hi DocRat, welcome to our forum,

I think to encourage them to take up residence would be to actually announce outside (away from other humans) that you welcome all faeries who have good intentions and don't hate humans to make themselves at home in  your area.

Start making a faery garden for them too and announce to them that this area is Dedicated for them and that you will only tend to it but will not  "weed" it of any wild plants that they choose to spring up there, except for crab-grass .    Also, ask them to show you what plants you could add there as well.

Make the area a positive vibration happy area-   add a bird feeder and bird bath.     Start caring for Nature in your area and  even make a faery's cottage– or else buy one–   and set INSIDE your home,  telling the faery that it is for them when they want to come in from any harsh weather and are seeking a refuge.

Faery love it when we adult humans stop acting like stuffy adults and learn to embrace the innocence of  a child.

Even  Jesus  has said that only those with  a child-like spirit are fit for the Kingdom of God.    Sadly, most of us adults- including religious ones- need to return to that inner condition.

If you do these things,  then don't be surprised that you will start noticing the faerie's presence return .    There are all kinds of Faery- there are also the Sidhe– the taller noble ones that I would consider the Gentry as well.   You will probably end up finding the smaller Fae– just as noble and to be respected as the Sidhe-    making themselves welcome- if you welcome them first.
