There is one book that all the books you just mentioned minus a few modern encounters that these are based on and thats Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries by Wentz. It's a classical work and is a must read.  Also I found out yesterday there are some Ashmole Manuscripts out there on the subject. If this is the case they probably contain very important information. Ashmole was a key figure in preserving the Dee manuscripts and what he saved had more influence on modern paganism and wicca than anything or anyone else in the past 500 years except maybe Agrippas 3 books of Occult Philosophy.

Another classical must read for this sort of things is Shamanism the Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy by Mircea Eliade. It sheds a great deal of light on related subject and the otherworld, the beliefs cross cultural and national bounderies. This documents true paganism much of the content is minus Christianization which seems to have invaded much of the lore in western mysticism. It is an anthropological read but has more information in it than most modern books on the subject of magic and paganism.

Getting a hold of those books may be a challenge. It's really rather a quest in a way. the only one that would be easy is the 3 Books of Occult Philosophy  The edition by Donald Tyson. This edition is translated and footnotes explain the more obscure parts of the manuscript.

If your into wicca and follow one of the major traditions, Your essentially following Golden Dawn techniques for banishing ect. Matthers who invented the Golden Dawn and the techniques followed by many pagans today got his information from this book an older edition of course but the same material none the less. Another source document for this would be Scot's Discovery of Witchcraft ( I'm using modern spelling) That is a very very tough read. but it is the oldest source manuscript of grimoires such as the Lemmegaton. ( Goetia, Ars Theurgia, and Ars Noteria) I don't recommend Scot's. Reading it gives me a headache after about 5 minutes, and there is so much crap in with the good stuff that it takes a lot of work to get anything worthwhile out of it.

I'm rather curious about John Matthews work. I know a friend of his who thinks the world of him but what I know of his work it's not straight foward at all but there appears to be some real originiality in it which  grabbed my attention.

I will be working on finding out more information about the Ashmole Manuscripts on the subject.

Forgot to tell you there are clips of the Wentz book at this website.   http://www.sacred-texts.com/ne…../index.htm

There is also a partial online version of the 3 books but it is unedited so there are mistakes in it I don't think Peterson did anything to the text You need to scroll down it starts in the middle of the page and to the left. If I'm wrong about him using the unedited text for his website I'll come back and mention it. I don't want him turning me into …… something unnatural

Thank you!! I'll have to see what I can find about those.  I do admit I've heard of the Fearie Faith one before I just haven't come across it yet.  And from what I've read about the John Matthews book, he took the original version of Kirks diary and a few pages that were found recentlyish and made the copy i picked up.  I'm really intrested to hear how his book of the Sidhe is.  And I've come across a guy who claims to be really in touch with his Elven past life to the point he remembers everything about it and wrote an online book.  Now I can't bring myself to read it all, mainly because of the small print lol, but I'm leaving a link to it to see what you think of it.  To be honest I can't tell if its legit, made up or a mix of both.

This guy made one big mistake right from the get go that makes me suspicious. He titles the thing " Secret Knowledge from the Otherworld"  One of the first things I learned when I was dumped head first into this was that there is a code of secrecy and privacy that totally differs from most human cultures.  I think they're good people for the most part but there is a great deal of power there and very strict rules with severe penalties governing the transmission of information to this realm.

I don't see anything in there that at first glimpse looks all that interesting to me. Looks like he's drawing from various sources both fiction and nonficiton plus whatever he believes he's remembering. Just glancing through it I found several historical mistakes which right away causes me to loose interest in reading the rest of it.  I don't know he could be putting significant information in there but making big mistakes like that really puts me off reading it.

My experience has been if you want to work with any spirit or however you would classify the sidhe, you have to work with them to learn anything. I read the books later when I was scrambling trying to figure out what the H was going on. I had about 10 years experience with Ceremonial magic and servitor work which is a very old ( Egyptian)  type of magical technique but in modern times  is best known as a technique used by the Chaotes.  I was not inexperienced but I was really thrown for a loop at my initial contact.  The books will help you understand the experience but they cannot cause anything to happen nor can they replace the interaction.

May I ask what are you goals in this ? What are you looking for in a book perhaps we can better guide you if we know that.

I want to learn as much as I can about those of the other realm, and try to decipher through all the bad press and the candy corn fluff to the heart of Faerie.  And also how I can incorporate them properly into my wiccan an along with that help them to change the world so it is back in Nature's hands.  If its any help what training I've been given has been loosely done based off of Silver Ravenwolf's teachings.

Best way is to get to know them. There are ways to attract them. I'm not really experienced in that my situation was a bit different.  Generally speaking with any spirit you find what they like and have it around and let them know you want interaction. I have heard of Silver but I don't know her. I'm not wiccan myself, though at the beginning I followed a Gardinarian path until I found out where it came from. I think the book on Shamanism is better as far as what your looking for. The Wentz book is rather Christianized and you have to kinda read through the hostility that exists between the sidhe and some of the Celtic areas.  I think that Matthews might be okay too but I'm not sure. I can't really check into that at the moment in the process of moving.
