Hey, I have been wanting to get a weekly magickal group on here for a while to do a group spell once a week with the intention of helping humanity return to its natural ways. So, every Sunday we can do a spell, and  beforehand we can talk about what spell to do.. My hope is that everyone will start to join me in this weekly project so we can all make the world a better place.  If anyone wants to reply to this thread with a good spell for the sunday after this one, it would be wonderful.

Since this is the first time we will be doing this together, the first spell will be reasonably quick and simple. For future spells that are more complex I will post guides on how to do them and any matierals you would need. Hopefully we as a group can start out with easy workings, and together gradually progress to more complex and intensive workings. That way everyone on here can start together, no matter what their experience and gradually to all learn together.

To start out quick and easy so everyone can get involved, we can all do a simple healing visualization on the Gulf of Mexico, where a large oil spill is destroying life.

Take five minutes out of your day on Sunday and visualize the Sowilo Rune over the Gulf of Mexico, sending positive light to help make the situation better. You don't need to specify exactly how, all you have to do is know that this positive energy will help.

For those who don't know how to visualize yet, or what the Sowilo rune is, here is a quick guide:

When you visualize you are seeing something that is not physically there. It's like using your imagination to see your the images in your mind. Visualization is when you hold a specific image in your mental sight for an extended period of time. When you do this, whatever you are visualzing begins to form in the spiritual realm. So if you visualize something healing, it can actually begin to heal.

If you have never done this it can be difficult at first, but practice greatly improves this skill.

It helps to enter a calm state of mind when you do visualization work. Sit down in a comfortable place where you will not be distracted. Begin taking deep slow breaths. Continue to do this until you are reasonably relaxed.

Start to see a mental picture of the Gulf of Mexico in your head. If you don't know where that is, just see an ocean and know that it is the Gulf of Mexico. The energy you are sending out will know where to be.

Below is an image of the sowilo rune. It's the rune of the sun, and very powerful for sending positive energy to anything. Start to see this rune in Golden light, spreading positive energy over the Gulf of Mexico to help it recover from the oil spill. See the light shining on the water, dispelling any negaitvity lingering from the destruction of the oil spill. The longer you  can hold this image, the more power you will send to it. Don't stress if your mind keeps wandering, this is normal. Whenever it does, just calmy bring your attention back to visualizing the rune over the ocean.

To increase the power of this visualization you can also chant the name of the rune. It is pronounced “So-veal-oh” Say the name so that it vibrates, like you are singing each time you say it. Each time you feel the vibration of the sound of the name, see the energy radiating to the Gulf of Mexico.  This steady chanting helps you stay focused on your visualzation, as well as helping to increase the positive energy you are sending.

Sowilo Rune

For anyone curious, I chose Sunday for two reasons. It is associated with the sun, and therefore speading light to people in a positive way, and secondly most people should be able to have at least some free time on Sunday to do the spell, even if they have a job or go to school.

Good luck to everyone. If you want to talk about your experiences from this group working or post new ideas for next weeks, please reply.

Blessed Be,

Jesse

I think this is a great idea and I'd love to participate! I've been meaning to get into the swing of working magick daily, so I think this thread cropped up at the perfect time (for me, personally).

My heart goes out to the life effected by that horrifying oil spill :(

Should we all focus on one previously agreed upon visualization (like Siwilo and chanting?), or use our own? What I mean is, should we agree on a set color, set number of chants, or go with the flow?

I am doing the visualization as I type (and will focus more when I turn off my computer) this sounds like a great idea (problem is I only use an athame and a wand and it's well hidden from my parents so they don't know, plus, I'd like tips on casting a magick circle without the use of a rope/sand please?)

As for casting a circle, you can try doing it with visualization alone. If you want something physical, try using like 4 items that are special to you, like a favorite book, good luck charm, a ring, teddy bear, etc — and place them at the 4 quarters and estimate a circle around them, or round out the shape with a few more items. If they're items normally found in your room it shouldn't raise any suspicion.

If you use sand, you can use it sparingly, like sprinkle it rather than lay thick lines. Most of the power is in the intent of what you're doing, not what you are laying around you. When you're done, you can use your broom as a ritual besom and do a cleansing sweep of the circle and spread the sand outside.

thanks for the advice! By the way, did anyone see any effect on the first group spell? I've been visualizing this before my sleep (which is pretty much when my spells/will/witchpower is most powerful) any news at all?

Oh, I missed it. :p. Is there going to be another group spell very soon? I would LOVE to participate. I actually just wrote a blog post about it: http://the-fire-witch.blogspot…..quest.html
