The Splendour Falls by Alfred Lord Tennyson

Written by admin on January 16, 2009 – 12:17 pm -

Alfred Tennyson, one of the most well-loved Victorian poets, gives us this bewitching poem about the glories of nature and the power of myth which enable us to “hear” voices from a wilder, stranger realm…

The Splendour Falls

The splendor falls on castle walls
And snowy summits old in story;
The long light shakes across the lakes,
And the wild cataract leaps in glory.
Blow, bugle, blow, set the wild echoes flying
Blow, bugle; answers, echoes, dying, dying, dying.

O hark, O hear! how thin and clear,
And thinner, clearer, farther going!
O sweet and far from cliff and scar
The horns of Elfland faintly blowing!
Blow, let us hear the purple glens replying;
Blow, bugle; answer, echoes, dying, dying, dying.

O love, they die in yon rich sky,
They faint on hill or field or river;
Our echoes roll from soul to soul,
And grow forever and forever.
Blow, bugle, blow, set the wild echoes flying,
And answer, echoes, answer, dying, dying,dying

    poetry is so magical, i wrote a poem about poetry lol and it has to do with poems along these lines:
    as each word continues wrapped in velvet,
    those cast under the spell of each delicate line
    have the enchanted brush bristles paint a picture before the’s eyes
    the color of the word, each has magic of its own
    the end
