Here’s another small excerpt from a recent conversation I had with JP, Mr E’s brother-in-law. Here, the discussion briefly turned to his observations of humanity and technology.–nl
JP: Humans, God bless them, are great inventors, great creators, and scientists. They can do fantastic, amazing things that blow our Elven minds away.
NL: I would imagine even things that we consider ordinary might seem incredible to your people when they first hear about it.
JP: Right, ordinary things…this fast thing called the internet, that’s mind-blowing. I mean, we’ve got something similar but it’s not the same. We don’t have a tiny keyboard that we use to go click, clickity, click.
NL: Not to mention the enormous quantity of information humanity has been able to amass on the internet.
JP: Right, we do have a book, you know, but that’s just a book. The Book of Nullyn, Vol. 1-3, you know, it’s like an encyclopedia.
NL: That’s not quite the same thing though. On the internet, anyone who has a connection can access incredible amounts of information and that has really been a game changer.
JP: It’s interesting, humans have created this place called the internet where they house all this information yet they can’t physically go there. So why do they have such a hard time believing there’s another realm that exists that is equally beyond their reach? Those are the things that are interesting to me. You know, they’ve created one thing but the other thing can’t exist?
Why are they so certain the internet exists?
NL: For one thing, they can see it on a screen and interact with it.
JP: Do we need to have Elven screens or something?
NL: [Laughs] Yes, that would help!
JP: But you have seen it on the big screen, there was a huge blockbuster epic that was inspired by us.
NL: That’s true but most people don’t know that or wouldn’t believe it in the first place.
JP: As far as the internet goes, we don’t need it, we have a different way of doing things here.
NL: Yes, I would imagine your lifestyle doesn’t require it.
JP: No, but what we do need is something that’s still part of our lifestyle and is of the utmost importance to us. It is the reason we are here talking to humankind in the first place. It is the earth, the sun, the atmosphere and the care of the earth that is so important to us because we draw our energy from it. And, when you take those things away from us, you’re destroying us.
