Last week, we asked Mr. E if he could share some more information about his culture and society which we always find fascinating. Since he has mentioned bakers quite a bit in the past, we thought maybe he could tell us about the special breads that are available in his world. He prepared for our talk ahead of time by visiting the local baker and gave us information on two traditional breads, the Elven Love Bread and Healing Bread.
We’ve only had time to bake one of these breads and, as you can see from the picture, we chose the Love Bread which turned out fairly successfully. How did it taste? Fantastic! It was a sweet, delicious mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices. In fact, my son couldn’t get enough of it and it was gone by the next day!
Mr. E also taught us how to make an elderberry syrup which can be spread on the bread and it was soooo good (see 2nd clip below). We aren’t ready to give out the recipe yet because we have some minor tweaking to do but you can listen to Mr. E talk about the uses and the symbolism of this bread in the audio clip below:
In the next clip, Mr. E talks about making elderberry syrup to put on the bread he has for breakfast in the morning:
Below are some related audio clips (more or less) from Mr. E which were also interesting:
